Mistaken for someone interesting, I have been interviewed at blogcritics.org. (We did it in October, so mentally replace "next month" with "this month.") In what is probably a first, I am actually asked about The Secret Life of Dolls a good bit. Also discussed: The Third Man, nineteenth-century fancrazy, and my newest "hobby."

Mistaken for someone interesting,

Please. You are very interesting (and right now much more interesting than my Reformation paper on German witch hunts)

Well, I tend to say that my gift ("gift") is making really boring stuff sound interesting.

If anyone out there deserves an interview (and more publicity, too) it's you. You're not mistaken for someone interesting, you actually are someone interesting ;) I loved the interview!
Also, now I really want to know about that new main character in SLoD. Guess you don't give spoilers? xD

It's not so much the identity of the character as the interpretation of said character that's going to be so much fun. :D

Fabulous interview! And I have to admit, if I actually commented here more, mine would be one of the 'OMG NO WHY HOW HAVE YOU MADE ME LOVE HIM?'

... and I kind of adore The Biggest Edward too. I don't know why! I just do.

"As far as Secret Life goes, there's a doll I've been holding back since March — a major character"

You have no idea how much I look forward to this reveal. I cant even begin to guess at who it might be.

There's a HUGE GIGANTIC plot point we have to get past in order to set that up, and it is KILLING ME. And I've been holding on to this doll for EIGHT MONTHS and it is PRECIOUS and I am DYING OVER HERE.

I really enjoyed the interview! :) I maintain that it is the witty meta that makes Twilight enjoyable, as much as the sheer...'easy-read'? factor of the books themselves. Whatever the feminist implications of the characterizations, they are enjoyable in their own way. (And hey, they've forever made sparkle and all its synonyms amusing. So...there's that.)

I'm so sorry about the disturbing emails though - I remember you mentioning them before, but that must have been hellishly discomforting. Awkward/worrying/sad all rolled into one.

Really good interview. I enjoy how you answer concisely but with your usual brand of good humor. You really come across as funny but not full of yourself, which is SO very very refreshing in the blogosphere!

Excellent interview. For one thing, it informed me that Russell Crowe is going to be Robin Hood!

So I looked up pictures and found that apparently he or the director or SOMEONE is confusing "Robin Hood" with "King Arthur". Oh well. As you say, Cate Blanchett is more than enough reason to see a film.

Lovely and fun interview; it really captures what it is about you, I think, that so many of us read for: Your candidness, your approachability, combined with intellect and sharp wit, and unabashed geekiness.

Also, it's too bad no money is involved in reading Secret Life, because you just gave yourself a great ad for upcoming episodes. I so excited to see where things go! (Maybe a Collected Secret Life Vol. 1 is in order for 2010.)

Good interview! You definitely came across as grounded, yet amusing & entertaining.

I'm 100% terrible at guessing games, so I'm not even trying to speculate about The Reveal. Luckily, I like surprises. *grin*

All interviews should address the critical question of how the author regards the Third Man.

"I'm made of affectionate snark and storytelling and squee? And the occasional capslock outburst for seasoning, I guess."

This cracked me up. I LOVE OCCASIONAL CAPSLOCK OUTBURSTS!

Great interview. I'm one of those who started following you on LJ after I laughed my ass off at the Twilight recaps.

Great interview--both your answers and the questions you were asked. I'm a total TLE fangirl and Giant Asshat Edward is already starting to grow on me. And now I'm freakin' dying to know who the hell the mystery doll is.

Good interview!
I too will likely be sobbing from Deathly Hallows. I cannot wait for the movies but at the same time I am not looking forward to them ending. I was sad after reading DH but there were still several movies yet to come.
It will be the end of an era.
(Hell, I didn't even start reading Harry Potter until just before the Order of the Phoenix book came out. Imagine if I grew up with this??!)

I don't comment often but I am a regular reader, so I will use this post to say thanks for all your hard work!

haha, someone calling me a moron....

I just found this girls idiocy hilarious and thought I'd share "lolololol the author. It's a fucking Twilight parody. You're a moron. If she didn't want it posted on the internet, she shouldn't have posted it on the internet. Good luck with that lawsuit." (found at http://www.absolutepunk.net/journal.php?do=showcomments&j=3204&e=102352 )

so, after having been nothing but polite in asking it either be removed or edited, that's the response I got. Ya'll can have some fun with that.

I tried my best, but the girl is a fucktard. Pardon the language, but it really is going to take Cleo contacting the owners of the site about the copyright infringement. Kids think because its posted online that it's free for the taking without any sort of crediting.

I, too, have fallen for TLE, TLB and the asshatery that is Edward Dollen.

I detest Twilight.

You have made me love it for the snark. Damnit.

As for the Reveal...I refuse to speculate, and look forward to it with great anticipation.

You know what's kind of bizarre? I've successfully suspended my belief so far (/I've always kind of been suspicious of dolls' consciousness since Emily in The Little Princess and Toy Story...and the Tin Soldier...and Corduroy...and every second book/movie/cartoon from childhood) that when you say you've had another doll, my brain does the following--

Oh the poor doll! It must be so lonely! Has it been by itself in it's box all this time? Surely not. It would develop a complex worse than TLE. Maybe they would get along. Maybe the doll is hanging out with all the other SLoDs, and the stories are just a lie, and they're like actors! But then there's a WHOLE OTHER STORY going on. I must know that story too!
.... o.O

ZOMGoodness, so meta.

Ooh! You could write SLoD fan fiction telling us the back story for when the dolls are "off stage" and shit!I totally bet Lyra smoke and Galadriel gets all made because those were HER tiny cigarettes, damn it!

I don't even follow Secret Life much (not because I don't like it, I'm just more into the Mi15m and book recaps) but knowing that there's something I don't know... the suspense is killing me already!

You'd appreciate this. I got interviewed for our campus newspaper about the Twilight phenomenon (because a prof I'm friends with outed me as a Twilight hater) and I mentioned your recaps as something for her to look at as an aspect of the fandom. So, more promotion! :)
