Okay. Frisk your couch cushions for spare change, because I think we're going to have the annotated Harry Potter 15Ms e-book up and running by Sunday night. (Sunday nights are apparently good for selling things--ending auctions, for example--because everyone's sitting around at their computers unable to go out and do anything fun because they have work/school the next day.) Five dollars ($5), and if you feel I am somehow vastly underselling myself, as people have insisted, you can buy multiple copies, since it's just a digital file anyway and you won't be wasting trees. So this way, it's priced to attract the vast majority of people who aren't quite as invested in the whole Compocalypse saga, but you can spend more if it is just eating you up inside omg.

Also, I have been so restless with the technical aspects of the process dragging on that I have actually started footnoting Twilight for next month's thing. (I will probably do these two sets and then cool it for a while and work on actual narrative projects. It's just that I have the vampire-related commentaries mostly done from working on them last summer, so... what the hell, why not. Also: my God, the repair bill dogpile.)

P.S. If you think the yawn thing was bad, imagine what it was like for me reading all your comments with the word "yawn" in them.

P.P.S. I almost forgot--a survey for the Twilight haters, if you could help [livejournal.com profile] octoberland out.

P.P.P.S. Thanks to [livejournal.com profile] quietselkie , it looks like I'm going to have another bit of edible Twilight merchandise to test For Science. I just hope it doesn't lay me out the way the conversation hearts did. That dazzle coating did vile, vile things to my intestinal fortitude.

(No, Confederate dollars.) I'm pretty sure the answer to that is yes, USD. I know Paypal, at least, does automatic currency conversion.

Hi Cleo!
I know you don't really do a lot of linkspam anymore, but I was wondering if you might have time to help spread the word about The Endless Night (http://www.anartlawful.libsyn.com/). It's an audio drama podcast that a friend of mine is writing and producing, about a down-on-his-luck space pirate captain and his crew, and the various (mis)adventures they get into. There's a new episode every month (Episode Three will go up at the end of October), and the majority of the publicity he's getting is just through word of mouth!
It's really a good time, and I would be endlessly grateful if you could mention it. Thanks!

I found $7 in change when I cleaned my room/did my laundry last weekend, so I'll definitely be buying. Actually, my circa 1987 Florida orange bird bank is jam packed with change, I need to go Coinstar it this weekend.

I gotta tell you though Cleo, I'm beginning to think that all the bad luck you had in August has moved over to me. The month's only half over and so far: My computer and my boyfriend's computer broke in the same week. His was simple to fix, but mine was completely lightning fried. Then the serpentine belt on my mom's car broke. Then my boyfriend and I came very close to splitting for good after two years together, and I nearly had a breakdown as a result. And then I slipped on the stairs and sprained my ankle. God only knows what the rest of the month has in store for me.

Surprise money is always fun. Just to save you a little bit of Coinstar fees, most banks with cash in your change for free as long as you are a member!

(Also, sorry about all of your bad luck. I hope things get better for you!)

Can't wait! I hauled my family around Edinburgh for an hour trying to find the Waterstones where I ordered your book when we went to visit a couple years ago. They all agreed it was worth it when they heard peals of laughter, though.

Question for the masses: In this pic: http://www.empireonline.com/100sexiest2009/men/default.asp?star=1
of Johnny Depp as Captain Sparrow - did they rough up his knuckles so he looks more authentic or is it hair or what?
(stupid detail that I noticed this morning and is keeping me from concentrating on work)

It's roughed up knuckles. If you look closely, it appears that it's reddish in color, rather than dark like his hair.

Speaking of the Compocalypse, I had a minor one yesterday. Windows wouldn't boot up. I did a PC Recovery thing, and thankfully all my stuff was still there. I'm still re-arranging things and re-installing drivers and such, and have a vague recollection of having done this before.

Computer meltdowns - they are not fun.

Might you provide us updates on how many copies you sell? For those of us hoping to feel smug about one of our favorite writer's success, or who need a lesson in cold hard cruel reality, or something educational like that?

I know it's technically none of our business, but a round number, or a 'more than N' would satisfy my score-keeping soul.

You know, I was wondering what to do about that. On one hand, I think people would like to know; on the other hand, you'd be able to do the math and know exactly what my income for the year was. (I will pay taxes on it.) Which is one of the reasons I wanted to come up with something to sell, a business transaction free and clear, rather than take charity. I want to be able to earn the money and then do whatever I want/need with it.

what manner of Twi-food are you being subjected to?? I myself have a Bella chocolate candy... thing sitting on my desk. I haven't eaten it though. I'm too nervous.

Speaking of Twi-Merch, I've seen Alice Dollen (as well as the New Moon Edward, Bella, and Jacob) in person and they're honestly not as bad the pictures. They're arms and wrists move, but they don't bend at the elbow. :/
But Alice isn't quite as hulking and frightening as the image suggests.

You know those silver sparkley skeletons and skulls they're selling at Walmart right now? Today I had an idea for Halloween decorations. I want to get a bunch of those sparkle skeletons and string them up on our porch, and impale some of the skulls on stakes in our yard. The scene will be complete with a hand-painted wooden sign stating, "SPARKLEPIRES, YE BE WARNED".

The idea tickled me, but nobody else seems to get it. I don't care. I still want to do it.
