From last night: Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince in Fifteen Minutes.

And now up: Episode Nineteen: We Put On Our Robes And Wizard Hats (with special opening) at [livejournal.com profile] made_of_fail_pc, wherein we discuss the movie itself (I never did tell y'all about the shenanigans at my theater opening night, did I? Well, now you get to hear). I'll try to pull a sample clip for you to hear. Sadly, of the two girls, I'm the one 1) with the weird laugh 2) you can't hear too well. DAMMIT I'M GETTING A HEADSET.

ETA: Around 11m:30s, you get a (pre-emptive) explanation of two jokes in the 15M.

ETA: Here's a sample clip about the wizard duel at my theater.

The show was an absolute blast to record, and the editing, while time-consuming (and curse-inducing) went pretty well too.

Thanks for doing this again, Cleo.

Yay! It's fun when you do podcasts (well, for me anyway).

Aw, yay. I really love doing them, although after a bad experience I had, I don't know that I'd do one with anyone but MOF and Poufwa, unless it was a fairly well-known, verifiably real show.

You know, even without that creeptastic experience, it's probably not a bad policy to have. Goodness knows the Internet was a petri dish of crazy even before Twilight came along as their champion. Besides, this way, every podcast is like a rare treat, a delicacy one eats rarely so as not to diminish its desirability.

Are there any 7th book spoilers within? I still haven't read it -- I'm going to this week. But I've been shying away from Potter-related things for fear of spoiling.

Thanks for the new m15m. I was wondering the whole time how you do these. Do you take notes during watching or do you write them from memory? Just curious. Sorry if this has already been asked (and answered)...

From: [identity profile] cleolinda.livejournal.com
The online ones, from memory--I took notes in King Arthur and spent so much time looking up and down that I missed things, so I never did that again. I was lucky on this one, that I did see it twice. A lot of times I'll only have seen the movie once.

I don't know if it was yours or the other woman's, but one of the female laughs reminded me a bit of Kristin, a host of the Renaissance Festival Podcast.

No worries. I am very, very well known among my friends for having a crazy loud laugh, so you're doing much better than me.

Jillian's laugh is the louder one, just because my mic was weaksauce. The best, craziest example of my laugh is probably at the beginning of this:

Although mostly through this new Made of Fail, you hear me chuckling in a very civilized manner.

Yeah, so not a week after I post a comment saying I don't want to be creepy, I now have to say (and I know this sounds creepy, but I live in Massachusetts, you are so, so safe from me!) I like your voice. In a non-sexual, non-creepifying way. It just sounds pretty!

There is no way, none at all, to say that and not be creepy. Fuck.

On Twitter. AT&T is a trending topic.

I suppose it could be a coincidence. It's a little odd that they'd do it just in one place in California. It could also be a local AT&T person doing a little frontier justice. Hard to tell.

Well, I'm not sure if this falls under the realm of your not being able to look at other people's parodies or not; if it doesn't, you should check out A Very Potter Musical. From their StarKidPotter channel on YouTube:

"This fan musical is produced and performed solely for the personal, non-commercial enjoyment of ourselves and other Harry Potter fans. It is in no way sponsored, approved, endorsed by or affiliated with J.K. Rowling or Warner Bros. or any of their affiliates.

The show was written and produced in early 2009 by a bunch of college kids/recent grads through a non-profit student-run theatre company. It was a free show that ran for three nights (five performances) and will never be done again... but luckily we taped it so everyone can get a chance to enjoy its magical silliness. The songs were written by Darren Criss (who plays Harry) and AJ Holmes (who plays piano in the band). The script was written by Matt Lang (who also directed the show), Nick Lang (who assistant directed and made the dragon puppet) and Brian Holden (who was busy working at a real job while the rest of us were making a goofy play).

The show was a completely non-for-profit unofficial parody show made by fans for fans. All of us involved love the books immensely (and strongly encourage everyone to read them if you haven't) and it is with the utmost admiration that we celebrate and poke fun at them with this musical inspired by our very favorite stories."

Even if you can't watch it yourself, could you pimp it in your linkspam, as well as the community I created for fan creations about the musical, [livejournal.com profile] starkidpotter? Thanks a lot!

Also, completely random thought - what the hell was up with the random twins in HBP? The non-Patil twins? Why were they there? It's like the random black kid they threw into PoA; I don't know why random extra kids in the HP movies bug me so much, but those twins were creepy for no good reason. (Also, I said random a lot...I'm sorry, I have insomnia and am not thinking too straight.)

I think she already posted something about the musical in her linkspam back when it was first posted (and was still called Harry Potter the Musical.)

Also, I totally agree with you about the weird, nameless non-Patil twins. I don't understand their presence...if we're going to have twins in the movie, why can't we have the Patils?

Well, the videos were taken down and put back up by StarKidPotter. This version is the censored version (unfortunately) and has been renamed to try to avoid legal action from JK Rowling and WB. I wanted to make sure people knew the musical was still up there, albeit censored and under a new name, and to try to encourage people to contribute to the new LJ community, [livejournal.com profile] starkidpotter which I just started.

Oh, yeah, I totally understand, I just thought I'd let you know she had already posted something. I checked out your community! I totally snagged some new icons (as you can tell!) Thanks for putting it up there; there's so much fanart on the FB page that it's hard to sort through and try to find LJ icons and such!

Listening to the podcast, the part where you talk about Draco's "He's going to kill me" and I have to say, I was disappointed in that scene. If I remember correctly in the book it was, "He's going to kill my mother." And I think it's important to show the humanity not only of Narcissa doing everything to protect her son, but of Draco trying to protect her as well.

Date: 2009-07-27 06:59 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] cleolinda.livejournal.com
Yeah... as much as I loved the line delivery, I did think it was a bit odd that it ended with "me." It made him seem a lot more pitiful than "my mother" would have.
