Since we're here anyway

I ETA'd the previous entry, but I'll repeat for those of you who saw the original entry earlier: CNN is reporting that Natasha Richardson has passed away, according to a statement from her family.

So. Uh. How 'bout that Lostnesday. I know I feel like squealing over a TV show right now.

Oh, no.

[identity profile] wenelda.livejournal.com 2009-03-19 12:20 am (UTC)(link)
I hope this isn't taken the wrong way, but I'm glad it was at least over quickly.

[identity profile] jettcat.livejournal.com 2009-03-19 12:24 am (UTC)(link)
It's not wrong, it would be better than visiting a bunch of beeping monitors day after day. At least that's what it felt like when my aunt lingered on for so long.

oh man. that is tremendously sad.

[identity profile] khaman.livejournal.com 2009-03-19 12:22 am (UTC)(link)
I feel extremely bad for her family. It doesn't dampen my fervor for the next half hour to get going, but I feel bad for them.

[identity profile] choiseul.livejournal.com 2009-03-19 12:24 am (UTC)(link)
Wow.

I am in no way glad this is the end result, but in an odd way it's nice to know something sort of for sure, instead of all the flying rumors.

But that poor family. As a previous commenter said... at least it was over relatively quickly. At least for her :/

The New York Times has a really lovely obituary on their front page right now.

[identity profile] secretnthewings.livejournal.com 2009-03-19 12:30 am (UTC)(link)
I was so very much hoping she'd pull through. That lady was class personified. I feel terrible for her husband and children.

[identity profile] havocs-roman.livejournal.com 2009-03-19 02:02 pm (UTC)(link)
Don't get me wrong, I feel terrible for them too - and for all the energy and plans that she probably had for this year, and the future... - but my heart really breaks for her mother.

A few years ago a relative of mine passed away, and his mother dealt with the wake and the burial in a very dignified way, but I can't even begin to describe the look in her eyes. Never seen it elsewhere, nor do I want to. Parents shouldn't have to bury their kids.

[identity profile] maisontv.livejournal.com 2009-03-19 12:31 am (UTC)(link)
That's so sad. I can't imagine what her family must be going through right now.

I hope the media is respectful enough to give them the privacy they deserve.

[identity profile] blkbelt901.livejournal.com 2009-03-19 12:34 am (UTC)(link)
As much as we'd all like them to have privacy... you know they aren't going to get it. And it sucks... the media is ruthless.

God, this is so sudden and sad. Her poor family.

[identity profile] numbedtoe.livejournal.com 2009-03-19 12:37 am (UTC)(link)
I feel gut punched. I really liked her. She did this movie with Alan Rickman and Bill Naggi, Blow Dry and I watched that every other week for a while.

Her poor family. So sad.

[identity profile] darkrosetiger.livejournal.com 2009-03-19 12:51 am (UTC)(link)
Yes! She was so good in that, and I really loved that movie.

I'm tearing up now :(

[identity profile] elendiari22.livejournal.com 2009-03-19 12:38 am (UTC)(link)
Oh no! Oh, I feel just awful for her family. This is too sad.

[identity profile] krispyxf.livejournal.com 2009-03-19 12:40 am (UTC)(link)
I am just heartbroken for her family -- especially her two young sons. :(

[identity profile] chulacabra.livejournal.com 2009-03-19 12:40 am (UTC)(link)
This is hitting close to home for me because a few years ago I got a concussion after a fall and then got on a plane two days later and made it much worse. Luckily I've fully recovered but it has brought home to me just how fragile we human beings really are.

[identity profile] pseudoblu.livejournal.com 2009-03-19 12:40 am (UTC)(link)
My Mom mentioned that it sounded like the exact same sort of thing that happened when her cousin was hit but a car. He felt fine, said he didn't need to go to the hospital, started getting a headache and nausea and was pronounced dead 45 mins later. I was hoping so hard this would end differently. ._.

Her poor family.

[identity profile] lyras.livejournal.com 2009-03-19 12:47 am (UTC)(link)
So sad. :(

(And this is horribly shallow of me, but I'm not sure I'll ever be able to watch Love Actually again. Poor Liam Neeson.)

[identity profile] apocalypsos.livejournal.com 2009-03-19 12:50 am (UTC)(link)
That mental image of that story that's in all the articles about how he rode with her in the ambulance and was distraught and stroking her face is stuck in my head because, God, it's so easy and so sad to picture that.

She was amazing, and I've seen most of her films. I'm trying to compose an obit, but I'm not doing very well. And now I'm crying at my work desk like an idiot.

[identity profile] queenofattolia.livejournal.com 2009-03-19 12:51 am (UTC)(link)
Truly, truly horrible. I loved her in The White Countess, an otherwise totally weird film, and in The Handmaid's Tale, even though it was an imperfect adaptation of the book.

She had a lovely voice and smile, and was truly her mother's heir.

I hope she didn't suffer.

[identity profile] sun-star-n-moon.livejournal.com 2009-03-19 01:22 am (UTC)(link)
"I loved her in The White Countess, an otherwise totally weird film"

So true. I didnt actually care for the film itself, but she gave such a good performance in it, that I always remember her for it"

Shit. Their older son is only a year younger than I was when my dad passed away.

My thoughts are with them.

[identity profile] tully-argyle.livejournal.com 2009-03-19 01:08 am (UTC)(link)
I am sad at her passing and her family's loss.

However, watching LOST, I am also sorry for the redshirt co-pilot who just got a Joss Whedonesque Death by Skewer.

This is so sad... I feel awful for their family. It has an unreality to it that reminds me of when my brother died in a automobile accident.

I just keep thinking of Liam in Love Actually as the widower with the son.

Random segue -The opening of Lost is interesting... I wonder why not all of them went back in time.

[identity profile] tully-argyle.livejournal.com 2009-03-19 01:20 am (UTC)(link)
Been thinking of Love Actually for the last few days, myself. Sad.

Another brilliant actor/actress dead too soon. So very sad.

Interestingly enough, this week also saw another celebrity death in 1998: Sonny Bono dying in a skiing accident.

I've never been skiing, but frankly it (well, any bump on the head) scares me.

My thoughts are with Liam Neeson (whom I adore) and Natasha's family. Poor kids. At least they can treasure the time they had with their mother.
