So. Recorded the Cursed Watchmen Episode of Made of Fail, got a brownie, sneezed and snerfled a little, took some Drixoral, and found this in my inbox:

Dear Cleolinda,

In June of 2008, a group that later came to call themselves Gliff Productions came up with the idea to produce a musical based on the first Twilight novel. Now, months later, Twilight the Musical consists of an original script parodying Twilight and 12 original songs plus original score. It is filmed in HD and contains studio recordings of the various musical tracks.

At this point in production, the running time is estimated to be one hour. With in-character behind-the-scenes featurettes included between episodes, the actual time of the entire production could be up to half an hour longer.

The first episode will be released Friday, March 13th. It will be available for free on our website at: http://www.twilightthemusical.com/

I withhold all judgment until I see The Hair.

I don't know, but I feel a little nervous too. I mean, they've got parody on their side in terms of fair use, but... I kind of have this "raise my hands and step back" feeling.

I can't wait to see this. Even if it completely sucks, it's got to be good for lulz, right?

Twilight is always good for the lulz. I was going to buy the first book for my sister's 17th birthday, but I recanted, realizing that she might *gasp* actually like it. (She also reads a lot of Stephen King, so it's kinda up in the air as to whether she'll want to get on board with "sparkle motion".)

... Bella needs to be a soprano. That's about the only vocal range that will fully show the "emo emo whine whine whine *flail*" that is Bella. Edward...I dunno. I kinda imagine him doing the Rex Harrison talk-sing thing. So help me, if they have him with the Phantom of the Opera "I shall have a gravelly, deep voice! For I am dangerous! DANGEROUS!" thing, I will probably be annoyed.

I had a musical theater class in college where our final project was to outline a musical based on a popular book/movie/story. I'm kinda wishing Twilight had come out sooner (and turned into the phenomenon it is), so I could have used that. (I used The Princess Bride.)

Heh--actually, no, or very rarely.* They mention later in the email that they read my blog--the whole thing seems to be a labor of love, not a professional/for-profit undertaking, and I guess I have some notoriety in Twilight fandom, so, you know, let's email Cleo about it.

* I did get that Coraline box, though, which was pretty awesome.

ROFL! What a hilariously cracktastic idea--cannot WAIT to see the musical.

Oh, and to my eternal shame, I got the movie in order to mock it and inadvertently made my 11-year old daughter fall in love with Edward. So yeah...epic fail on my part.

Oh boy. I remember talking about this back in the fall when I went with some friends to see The Phantom of the Opera in Seattle. Before the show, sitting and discussing the melodramatastic similarities between Twilight and Phantom in the possibility for overwrought music of woe and actually drew bubbly, excited interjections from actual Twihards who had wandered over to see the orchestra pit near us. Two of our party were able to bait them with straight faces and oh-em-gee-ing while me and another friend hunched down in our seats, holding our sides and shaking silently.

Oh, on another note, I'm totally working on getting my boyfriend to sneak me into the Twilight Prom (http://www.thehubproductions.com/prom/Home.html). Otherwise I am sending him in with a camera.

All for the lolz, of course.
