There are a couple of Super Bowl-related things I am willing to truck with, and they are 1) Li'l Smokies wrapped in bacon* and 2) Puppy Bowl.

* That said, you have to draw a line at what things you wrap in bacon. I would not be able to handle this.

Also: Here's the Transformers commercial that was pulled from YouTube.

Also-also: There are so many things I don't understand about this question.

I'd seen mention of the Bacon Explosion elsewhere--I think the husband of a friendslister was going to attempt it for the SB party--but HOLY DAMN.

*stares*

That is totally just...I mean...wow.

Wouldn't it be more time-friendly to just SMOKE A WHOLE PIG?

I saw the bacon thing on the news, and I hoped then that that whole thing wasn't one serving. Thankfully they mention here about cutting it into slices, and hopefully one serving is one slice.

So I find the whole thing rather off-putting.... but now I am craving bacon. Crap.

Have some turkey bacon on a BLT, bb. That way you can justify the nom-noms with healthy veggies and a meat that tastes like delicious, slavery pig while NOT killing your heart. :D

My reactions while looking at the Bacon Explosion pictures went from disgust to "whaaa?" to "actually, that looks kinda yummy" to "oh ew". Seriously, you might as well just inject pure lard into your bloodstream - saves time and energy.

As for the Galadriel or Twilight vampire question, that's about as absurd and lopsided a question as "tea and cake or death?" For one thing, if you were a Twilight vampire, you'd have to go to high school for the rest of eternity. As Emerson Cod would say, oh HELL no.

Didn't they do something like that on SNL once? It was a faux commercial for something akin to a bacon-stuffed Twinkie > deep-fried > covered in chocolate > wrapped in a pancake > wrapped in a pizza > stuck in a giant bag filled with chili?

yeah, so about a month ago i made a batch (6lbs) of fudge (awesome). a week later i made bacon (awesome) to go with breakfast. so now i have left over bacon and left over fudge. i come home that evening to find my fiance and my roommate eating fudge wrapped in bacon, and i was struck dumbfounded by how to react to that.

Note to self: check calendar verrrry closely before going to see Oscar contenders. Confirm which week is which and bring suitable amount of Kleenex.

Man, I thought bacon wrapped chili cheese dogs were heart-stopping. (They are, actually. But so good.)

My husband works for the company that built the equipment for the Puppy Olympics that Animal Planet did over the summer. The little swimming pool (where most of the puppies just stood in the pool and drank the water) and a little soccer field? Or something? He said it was one of the cutest jobs he's ever worked.

Mmmmm, bacon. (I am, if you can't guess, a fan.)

That link made me think of the Simpson's: "Bacon up that sausage and butter up that bacon!" (Or something to that effect; it's been so long since I've seen that episode. lol)

It also made me think of a Barenaked Ladies song, in which they state "they have pre-wrapped sausage but not pre-wrapped bacon." "well, can ya blame 'em?" "Yeah."

(Again: Fan of bacon, and all bacon-related things. LOL)

This post made me happy, by the way. My friends just called me un-American for not watching the Superbowl--"not even for the commercials?" "no, not even for the commercials, they're not that entertaining"--and now... I'm kinda pissed at them. And then I came on here and saw other "un-Americans" enjoying non-Superbowl things, and I was pleased. :) Thank you for that.

Yeah... my parents love football, and even they think the commercials were really shitty this year, so don't feel bad. I am completely immune to the charms of football--there are foots and there are balls, that's all I know--so you're always welcome to hang out here instead.

The greatest thing about Puppy Bowl V was that this year, they had the "Puppy Bowl Hall of Fame." That was just...omg, love. And the kitten half-time show! We watched Puppy Bowl up until Super Bowl kickoff, when people came over and actually watched the game. My friend Kevin looked at the TV right before we changed it, and it was at Kitten Half-Time, and he stopped mid-sentence, and just cocks his head, and goes, "That's so cute." He seriously couldn't think for a full 10 seconds, because he was on cuteness overload.
