My initial response to the Belle doll was PRETTY! But after I looked back it at I realized that they'd used the same face sculpt for Belle, Aurora, and Cinderella, which is kind of weird. Also, I realized the dolls are 22" tall, which is probably why they're so much more expensive than the others.

And I just wrote this a couple minutes ago further down, but it's worth repeating here that I think if they're doing Disney princesses in different dresses, like Snow White and Aurora, they totally have to do Belle. I'm not entirely sure why my reaction to Belle's face is so unenthusiastic--she is far and away my favorite Disney princess, with Ariel, Jasmine, and Lilo (YES LILO COUNTS DAMMIT) battling for second place. Perhaps I'm too invested in her.

It may also be that my taste in dolls runs toward big ol' dolls (http://padparadscha.livejournal.com/287642.html), and I've never been as into the skinnier Tonner types. (Which is also why I didn't get the gorgeous-dressed Christmas Belle, although I was all over that outfit.)

Either way, you're definitely right--Belle has the biggest selection of awesome dresses. I'd be all over that cape. And regarding your comment further down the page, YES.

You know, I wonder this all the time. IIRC, she pricks her finger, falls asleep, wakes up, meets everyone and dances with Prince Philip all while it's blue. I think it's prettier in blue. I also just love Merryweather to pieces.

Lol, I was just thinking that. I think it's so that dumb people don't mix her up with Cinderella (who's supposed to have a silver dress, anyway) I like that they have the peasant dresses though.

That's exactly how I feel. If I liked her, I'd be saving up for the next year. But their lack of effort and detail has saved me! I can be content with the Original, Barbie, Broadway, Special Edition, Fall, Anniversary, and forty-five other varieties I already own...
