So I have to apologize in advance for upcoming spamminess, because the Screen Actors Guild awards are on tonight (TBS?), and I'll be liveblogging them as well. (Traditionally I only liveblog three awards shows, so the Oscars late next month are the only other show you have to worry about. And this one's only two hours and nothing but acting awards, so it shouldn't be too bad.)

Meanwhile: Sideshow Toy Legolas, from the people who brought you Faramir One and Faramir Two! (Sideshow Toy Legolas with elven cloak! Bitch-ass expensive on eBay, but if I'm going to save up for this one--although he's beneath the Dollens on the priority list--I'm going to get the works.)

That said, their Aragorn kind of weirds me out in the face, I'm not sure why. Maybe because he looks like he's about to burst into tears. So I think I'm sufficiently Aragorned as it is.

(I could never get a Boromir. Faramir One would never recover from it.)

More doll links, culled from yesterday's window-shopping idly across the internet:

Whoa. The likeness on this Obi-Wan is kind of... uncanny.

An auction lot of 12" Queen Amidala dolls [and a Leia] on the cheap [ends in two days], if any Star Wars fans are interested.

Okay, THIS chair should fit everybody.

SP Miniatures: Doll crystal balls! Doll tarot cards! Hogwarts textbooks! HOLY SHIT LOOK AT THE WIZARD'S CABINET!

omg doll jewelry. Really nice doll jewelry.

Also, via [livejournal.com profile] txvoodoo, who vouches for the LJers involved: Please read and help!
A few days ago I found out that my dear friend [[livejournal.com profile] bdbdb] just got diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis and lost sight of one of her eyes due to this awful disease. She is currently in the hospital where they are trying to save her other eye and prevent her from going completely blind. To make the matters worse, she has no medical coverage and the hospital bills will probably add up to more then she makes in a year!

[...]

So while I cannot fight her disease, because it currently has no cure, I've decided to donate 100% of all the profits made from my Etsy shop for the next month (1/23 to 2/23) to help her pay for her medical bills to try and make her life a little easier in this great tragedy. I am donating my time, material costs and all the Etsy fees to this cause. If you would like to donate without purchasing please use the Donation button on the top right hand corner of my blog. Thanks!
Just from browsing, I would recommend the lily earrings. (People do seem to be buying things up, so you may have to wait for a restock if they sell out.) And I love the opal-colored Czech beads and the color on the tangerine marble earrings.

Is it really wrong that I find it eerie and disturbing to have this big empty space beneath one of your posts where the comments should be?

And that I am satisfied inside knowing that by the time I type this out and post it there will be at least three comments above mine? (Maybe five.)

After stupidly clicking on the dollworld link yesterday, I ended up at a Barbie coloector's website and got stuck for hours.

I also found an Anna Dollerious on ebay that I so can't afford.

~sigh~

The crystal balls, books, wizard's cabinet et. all are fantastic.

[livejournal.com profile] bdbdb should contact her local chapter of the National Multiple Sclerosis Society. (http://nmss.org) I used to work for a chapter, and I know they sometimes can give some emergency funding, though often not much, but it can help. Also they'll know of some good resources in her area.

The Sideshow Legolas with the cloak is exceedingly cool. If I didn't have my Mattel!Legolas (*pats his soft hair*), I would covet one. To defend his honor, yes, Mattel!Legolas is quite pretty, but he's way less metrosexual looking in person, and his costume is really nice. The same goes for Mattel!Aragorn, whose costume is made of win. Hee. Although nothing, for me, matches Mattel!Arwen's headpiece. So so pretty and detailed, even more so than Galadriel's.

I do not like the Sideshow Aragorn at all. He wigs me a bit, and it's definitely something in the eyes. Boromir is fairly nice, though. Are you sure Faramir One wouldn't like some brotherly companionship? His Lady Fair hasn't come around yet, after all... ;)

Obi-Wan, zomg. O_o See, this is where what we discussed about likenesses comes into play. It's easy to complain if the likeness of a character isn't completely right, but at the same time...perhaps it's worse when you suddenly feel as though you've got a mini version of the actor? Like...I want to have the essence of the character because I like the character (or the costume, or both), but I wouldn't feel altogether comfortable with, you know, a tiny version of Ewan McGregor/*insert-name-here* in my room.

LOL, the first thing I noticed in the auction is that seller is where I am. The Leia they have is just the saddest thing ever. A friend got me one years ago and her face is just...she needs a serious nose-job, let's put it that way. Her dress is fab, but her face is not so much. I love the black travel gown Padmé, though. The dress is beautiful (softest velvety material ever ), and because her face is 1) covered in white makeup and 2) porcelain, she looks very delicate and like Padmé should. /nerd

The miniatures!!! The tiny jewelry!!!

I <3 your taste in earrings (and other shiny things), by the way. :)

OMG all that miniature Hogwarts stuff is awesome. I built my own dollhouse about ten years ago which included wallpapering, painting, cutting and staining hardwood floors, wiring and sewing cute little curtains, etc., etc. But I bought nearly all the furniture except for itty-bitty books that I made myself, so I'm looking at the lil textbooks and just squeeing. :)

Did you see that Sideshow Collectibles has a Jack Shepherd doll (http://www.sideshowtoy.com/?page_id=4489&sku=900006)? Articulated, too! Doesn't look much like Matthew Fox to me, though they do have the angst-face down pat. I don't know, maybe the face is too short, or maybe he needs to switch faces with their Aragorn so it looks like he's about to cry, or something.

I wanted to ask you, because you might know...
Have you ever had any problems with any of the Tonner doll clothes? Hermione's tights seem to be missewn, but I don't want to send the entire doll back because of some defective tights. They've given me super-excellent service so far but I wasn't sure if you had ever had to send anything back.
