I will admit that I still own a copy of Jurassic Park (as well as The Andromeda Strain iirc) and this bums me out a bit.

The end of the year news piece for this year of all the people who have left us is going to fucking break my heart to pieces for hours.

Dammit. I love his books and the early years of ER....dammit. :(

This makes me sad -- even if I'm still turning cartwheels over the election. The "Jurassic Park"/"Lost World" novels are two of my favorite books EVER.

Sad. He was still pretty _young_ ...

Shit! That is indeed sad. And I think I just broke my son's heart with the news. He is such a huge fan of him, most of all of Jurassic Park, but also of his other books.

I liked several of his novels, especially Jurassic Park, but I can't say I'm not relieved that he won't be around to argue against global warming.

OMG... I'm so shocked! Now we're all going to end up stuck reading John Grisham books on airplanes.

And SERIOUSLY no one else needs to die this year. This is getting RIDICULOUS.

Sad that there won't be any more fun, gripping books from him.

Less sad that there won't be any more critics fictionalized as child-rapists by him. The Michael Crowley thing really tainted Crichton for me.

Date: 2008-11-05 08:55 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] cpip.livejournal.com
Agreed. I liked Crichton's early works, but his later stuff, and his politics... yeah. Much like Orson Scott Card in that respect.

Holy crap. He was my favorite author for a long time. Until I was about 11, I very seriously wanted to be a paleontologist, and Jurassic Park was my favorite book and movie. I've read pretty much every book he's written except for the two most recent ones.

That's so sad :(

Why is everyone cool dying this year? Why?!

Sigh. I grew up on ER. I really did. And my dad is gonna miss Crichton's books; he was a huge fan. Owns almost all of 'em, I think.
