2008 strikes again.

I think I'll be watching Butch Cassidy and The Sundance Kid tonight.

Yeah. I had a big post ready, too, but now...no. He will be missed so, so much.

Other than me, yours is the first mention of it I've seen on LJ. Must've just come through.

I was kind of expecting it. Wasn't there some article a while back that had a statement from the family saying he'd 'die at home'?

Still, he did good work for charity, and all. 83 is a good innings.

Yeah, at least he had time to prepare, you know? There've been several statements over the past few months that no one would really confirm, but you knew it was coming...

Is 2009 here yet?

Jimmy just......breaks my heart.

What a legend Paul Newman was. A little part of me died when I heard he passed away.
Now I really do hate 2008.

It's so sad.

When we heard, at work, we three women working today stood in silence for a while, and then we said, as one, "The most beautiful man. Ever." and then we sighed.

Even though I knew he was sick, I still gasped when I saw the news this morning.

My little six degrees moment: When I was in high school I went to London with a group from Cornell University, and the guy who played Kid Twist in The Sting was in the group, and I nearly lost my shit. "OH MY GOD HE WAS IN A MOVIE WITH PAUL NEWMAN! I KNOW SOMEONE WHO KNOWS PAUL NEWMAN!"

I think I'll be rearranging my Netflix queue into something resembling a Paul Newman tribute today.

Oh man. This seems to be the week for deaths (a couple of my regular customers died at the beginning of the week along with my next door neighbour) Well, I suppose it's the *year* for deaths. Damn you 2008!

83's pretty good though, and at least he's not in pain anymore. I think I'm going to go and dig out some of his movies over the next week.

He'll really be missed. At least he and his family had the time to say goodbye, he gave so much back and I think he was deserving of that much. 83 is a nice long life I think, rip Paul Newman :(

Yeah this hit me hard today. I got to meet him once when I was a kid and my dad was chief steward at Riverside raceway. He took the time to smile and ask what I was doing while I was helping dad in the pits. He also had the same birthday and joked with my dad to watch out when I got behind the wheel. He was right, I raced in my first juniors race when I was 13. How I wish the stepmonster hadn't gotten rid of all my dad's old photos.

Oh, Paul Newman. My friend and I swooned over him while watching, of all things, Silent Movie. We were pretty sure there was a spark in his eye and a little ting! noise every time he turned toward the camera. God, we are sad.
