Huh, I'm actually the complete opposite right now because after THE BEST FINALE OF ANYTHING EVARRRR, there's really nowhere the film adaption can go except down (for me anyway, I can see why others would look forward to it).

Man, that's a loooottttt of linkspam. I'd love to comment on it all but, damn. I will say - that comment on Twilight Tuesday = WIN, and I feel I've been missing out on the internets a lot lately because I have not been able to see The Dark Knight yet (going tomorrow!) and have been avoiding spoilers. :P

Joss' wailing insistence that "Yes, I kill a lot of characters, but this time it's totally different, I swear!" is making me want to slap him.

How about put a summary of the book on the back instead of quotes about how people liked the other books the author had written? That's what I want most.

From the dear author link on things publishers could do to sell more books

[identity profile] lesbiassparrow.livejournal.com 2008-07-23 03:54 am (UTC)(link)
It’s annoying to have books of different sizes and/or types on the shelf for the same series.

Strangely enough this has bothered me much less than almost EVERY GODDAMN BOOK BEING PART OF A SERIES. Sometimes I don't want to discover that the volume that horrified me is book 2 of your planned 23 book story arc on elvish werewolves who love the wrong women.

As for Make the covers more distinctive suggestion; how would we recognize paranormal romances without the headless and naked male torsos that they usually display?

Headless, naked male ankles? You've got the combination of pseudo-Victorian "oooo, ankle revelation is daring" and "holy shit, this must be paranormal. That guy's head was on his ANKLES!"

From the twilight link - why did I click that?

Critics are not biased against Mamma Mia! because of their gender -- they're against it because it is genuinely horrible.

Ta-daaaaa.

[identity profile] hulamoth.livejournal.com 2008-07-23 06:15 am (UTC)(link)
But all of this innuendo merely reinforces the fact that they're actually not "doing" anything, and perhaps, makes purity more appealing to the teenage girls devouring the series.
Mulder and Scully politely defy all notions that innuendo = proof of abstinence.

It showed that guys will like you even if you don't want to have sex right away, which is so different from everything being thrown at girls right now.
I am convinced that Twilight is good for children. This seriously needs your "Bella Swan, how shall I kill you, let me count the ways?" icon.

Hey Stephanie! I was just wondering why you use so many synonyms. I mean is thesaurus.com your homepage or something? It's not your fault, but sometimes it really makes me want to punch your editors. Also, there's no need to use the word "chagrin" that much.

That got a hearty LOL from me, that's for sure. I really hope she does read the comments...

[identity profile] daemonnoire.livejournal.com 2008-07-23 05:00 pm (UTC)(link)
Ugh Witchblade. They are only allowed to do this if they use the COMIC BOOK continuity. Not the TV show. Because the TV show was dead to me at the end of the first season. DEAD. BECAUSE ONE OF THE CHARACTERS WASN'T DEAD WHEN HE WAS SUPPOSED TO BE AND GRRARGH!

That Viacom thing is full of so much bullshit. On the plus side, the artist posted a comment saying that the tags were removed after she complained.

I mentioned that I wanted to see Quarantine to a work colleague today and he told me to go and watch the original. I wasn't even aware that it was a remake!

But as it turns out, it's an American remake of Rec, a Spanish film that came out in 2007, or April this year in the UK. It hasn't been shown at all in the US. It's going to be released on DVD in August over here and I can't find a release date for the DVD in America?

He said that Rec was the scariest film he'd ever seen in his life - he says he had nightmares for weeks and he still gets scared thinking about it, and he's a 6 foot 3 bloke covered in tattoos and piercings - and that everybody should watch that and not Quarantine. So I thought I'd pass on the message.

And as for onscreen resemblances(sp), how about the youngest brother from Malcolm in the Middle and the blonde singer girl from School of Rock? They're the spitting image of each other, just different genders. It's too late in the evening to find pictures now, but trust me.
