Oh man I'm so excited! The finale again plus extras plus the premiere tomorrow- it's a good time to be a Lost fan :D

And I hate to say it but thank you! writer's strike for making Lost the only good new thing to watch so I don't have to fight my roommate for the tv :)

Oooh...Lostursday is sort of an....unfortunate word. Maybe it's just me. But I think it's going to be on Thursdays from here on out, so I supposed I should just gird my irrational-word-issues loins and deal with it.

Whee! Lost! I only wish I could remember anything that happened last year!

Yay!! I sooo can't wait. I'm still in denial about.. the Charlie incident.. and am hoping that somehow a miracle happens to fix it, fix it now.

Ahh, I'll miss being able to say Lostnesday.. But I suppose I'll get used to Lostursday soon enough!

I think I'll continue to call it "Lostnesday" even though it's not on Wednesdays anymore. Lostnesday is so much better than Lostursday.

Very exciting! I don't know if you've said this before and I just missed it, but are you going to try doing your recaps again Cleo? I really miss them. I remember they used to be the best part of my week.

Same here. ^^ They were the greatest part of Lostnesday (even better than the actual episode sometimes.)

Correction, not sometimes, most times. I fully think you should be writing for television, Cleo, when such a thing happens again!

This is so, so exciting. Oh man.. 4 hours of Lost split up between two fabulous nights. Thank you so much for posting that article :)

P.S. I just got your book a few days ago, and I am completely loving it. I'm so excited to have your M15M in a form that I can hold and read before bed.. it's great!

My parents are in the next room over discussing Pop-Up Lost between the commercials. They are so happy to be getting a refresher from ABC right now. ;D

Pop-Up Lost would be much more entertaining if you'd written the commentary. Just saying. Then again, my local affiliate is running a weather warning right over the top of the pop-ups... so I'd just be missing more that way.

I'm watching pop up Lost right now. It's okay. Not snarky enough, but good enough to explain what's going on.

When you say it out loud, it sounds kind of like you're saying Loster's Day. Which is appropriate.

Aww, and now my two glorious weeks of actually being able to read things online about Lost are over. I hate the international timedelay on big mystery type shows like this and Heroes.

That said, I was absolutely flabbergasted that for those UK residents who don't mind giving money to Murdoch have satellite, the new series of Lost will start on Sunday. I'm not sure you can realise how completely unprecedented this is, normally we get US shows months (or even a year or more) behind! I can only presume that it's possible because they're doing the whole season without breaks which is how tv is always broadcast here. That said, it's still a bit of a risky move I'd have thought, given that the Writer's Strike is still ongoing. Won't they run out of episodes in two months?

From: [identity profile] cleolinda.livejournal.com
I think it's only an eight-episode mini season to begin with--they did say that the strike had cut them short.

Date: 2008-01-31 05:58 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] eofs.livejournal.com
That's what I thought I'd heard. Do you know if they've sort of... come to some form of natural pause after the eight episodes? I know Heroes took some flack for trying to do that.

I think it does make a lot of sense for them to show it in the US now - for the next two months they will probably have very little competition. Frankly if I were them I'd have been showing as much Lost as possible in order to catch non-viewers up. However it making sense in the US doesn't mean it makes sense for Sky to immediately show it here. We haven't got a writer's strike on, so we've got the same programming we always do. So it hasn't got that edge. And if it ends in two months and they then have to wait ages for further episodes... well that's just not how tv is broadcast in this country. So it's weird.

I mean, we should be seeing the new Desperate Housewives round about now (it's started in January every other year) but there's not been any sign of that. And I can only presume that's because Channel 4 (who also had Lost before it was rudely poached) realise that UK audiences aren't going to tolerate a big long gap in the middle of a season.

They did a short six-ep run last year, a long break, and then the rest of the season, and it was a TERRIBLE idea. Really, truly awful. Lost a huge portion of the audience, and because the six episodes were largely based around the Jack-Kate-Sawyer triangle, they lost even more people who got bored. I admit, there was a point when I just had the show on in the background. We all wanted more of the relationshippy stuff... until we got it, and we realized we didn't actually want it at all.

This time, I think they'd planned a short 16-ep season (as you may have noticed, an American season lasts 22-24 episodes) and just do it that way from now on--two (three?) more short seasons with the end of the show in mind and call it a day. Except that then the writers' strike hit, and they only had eight scripts done. So they truly didn't mean to do the stupid-ass break this time; they intended a full season run of 16 episodes. If the strike magically ended tomorrow, maybe they'd be able to start cranking them out again and try to catch up, I don't know. But the break is going to last as long as the strike does (plus the time it will take to film the other eps), pretty much.

For those of you that might have forgotten other stuff there's a video that's "All Seasons of Lost in 8mins 15 seconds". All the basic facty type stuff and would have been so much better if written by our dear Cleo but here ya go:

Cleo, I thought of you today when I was at work. We got a catalog from some company called Victorian Trading Co. Oodles of awesomeness and I'm not even that fond of Victorian stuff.

Wow, this would actually be really helpful to me since I've missed a bunch of episodes. Do you know (perhaps from past viewings on the website) if they leave more than one "full" ep at a time up on the ABC site? I'd love to watch last season's finale before I watch the recap and new ep, but I don't have time tonight! Any idea if they'll all be available on the website?

Awesome, thanks. I actually ended up watching the 2 hours, after all! But I'm sure I'm still missing some things from the eps I missed. *sigh*
