Did you used to do blogging for the Globes or was that just the Oscars? Regardless, I miss it. :-[

Generally I did both, although at least one year I think I wrote up the Oscars the day after. I think this year the whole Globes thing was only half an hour, and no one attended, so... not much to talk about. : (

Oh GOOD the Eddie Vedder song won! And Cate Blanchett. These don't seem too bad. I'm glad There Will Be Blood won something.

Cate Blanchett FTW.

But seriously, if Atonement wins the Oscar I'm going to lose a lot of faith in the system. Considering that I have no faith, that's either quite a statement or none at all. I mean, I haven't seen No Country for Old Men or There Will Be Blood yet, but basically all that Atonement has going for it are pretty costumes, pretty people, and a really long tracking shot. Of D-Day. It, not surprisingly, was also pretty. Somehow.

And, to be fair, James McAvoy, who in addition to prettiness had actual depth, and talent, and - dare I say? - a tiny hint of grit. Other than that... not so much.

Also, I cannot express how entertained I am that Julian Schnabel won director. I haven't seen that one yet, either (god damn it, they all need to come nearer to me!), but I always love it when somebody comes out of the blue like that. (As long as s/he's deserving, obviously, which by all accounts he is.)

I actually don't think Atonement is going to win the Oscar. I really don't. While it was very good, I think it's incredibly clear that both No Country for Old Men and There Will Be Blood are both far superior films. The Hollywood Foreign Press were on something when they did that vote.

Heh...on the tv side of things it was funny watching David Duchovney talk about his win on TV GUIDE channel...then say the F-word 2 or 3 times on live tv (over the phone) while the interviewers sat there kinda stunned...

And they didn't bleep it in time either...

Wonder if they'll put it online...

cheers

SWEENEY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Also, I'm glad Johnny won, period. He's deserved to win multiple times now.

I haven't seen Atonement yet (tomorrow!), but that one didn't surprised me at all.

I miss the whole shebang of the ceremony, though. :/

It's whatthedeuce here. Just set up a new LJ so please don't let me be snark-friendless. BTW, the Globes announcement was hilarious. Towards the end, Nancy O'Dell looked like a mother plastering a fake grin on her face to keep up appearances for her shattered family. It kinda rocked.

Okay, I didn't see Longford, and I didn't even see The State Within (not watching Jason Isaacs? omg, must turn in my fangirl badge immediately!), but the idea that anyone got it over Nesbitt in Jekyll is mind-blowing. You guys seen that show? Freakin' amazing. One of my favorite shows ever just in the first five minutes.

I think it's pretty sad that, not only have all light or comedic movies been forced out of consideration for Oscars by the recent attitude that only artistic (read: grim) films deserve awards, they've even been supplanted in the GG "best comedy/musical" race by deadly serious musicals and dramatic biopics of musicians.

Arson in cleoville? oh no, that's bad!

While I was visiting your town, and compared the quiet village of 900 inhabitants I grew up with your Cleoville of 800 inhabitants (well, they look completely different , for sure *giggle*) I noticed the "ville fleurie" sign under the town sign. And it was very familiar to me. How cute is that!

The programmer of this game must be French, because French towns have indeed that flower system. French towns with four flower symbols on their flower sign have lots and lots of flowers in their streets and public places.

Like this, a real french village name sign with lots of flowers around it. I just thought you might appreciate this detail.

I just use Print Screen, paste it into a photo editor, and work from there. It helps to save it as a png file, to capture the quality.
