God, I am so tired. We went to see The Namesake last night (good), and I had a frozen Coke but the movie didn't start until 9:50 so there was no sleep. Noooo sleeeeeep. So instead, I stayed up until four and worked on 300 icons. I'm not done yet, but I think it'll be a good crop; I found the entire movie screencapped on [livejournal.com profile] cap_it, so I can pretty much do anything that would be funny. Only problem is, I can't find the exact shot where Someone Is Caped to Death, which kind of sucks. I thought it was during the first battle, but it might have been in the part where Stelios and Captain's Sonios were fighting together, so... I don't know.

Also from [livejournal.com profile] lafinjack in the [livejournal.com profile] m15m comments: the five second version, metaquoted a couple of weeks ago. And if you haven't seen them yet--which you totally should have--It's Raining 300 Men (full song) and a family-friendly 300.

ETA: I have no idea what possessed these guys to do it or how it got to be in my mp3 folder, but I bring you: the funniest cover of "It's Raining Men" that I, certainly, have ever heard. And, for old times' sake, the brilliantly-deployed Geri Halliwell cover from Bridget Jones's Diary.

The "It's Raining Men" vid will never not be funny.

I really hope they find some way to put that, or something like it, on the DVD.

Ah, all of those things are funny. I really feel like I don't need to see the movie at all now, culturally speaking. I think it was particularly telling that your (hilarious) m15m was like, four sentences long...:) Not meaty, except for the actual meat, I guess. Of which there seems to have been a lot.

My BF told me he read that the guy who played Leonidas spent the first day walking around the set in costume thinking "I'm King Leonidas, I'm King Leonidas" over and over, because otherwise, he felt a little ridiculous.

Well, here's why: http://www.rottentomatoes.com/m/300/gallery.php?page=22&size=hires&nopop=1 . They didn't even have any real sets, hardly--just a bunch of guys in leather Speedos prancing around. I want loaded extras on the DVD so bad, if only for a commentary with Butler and Wenham bitching about how stupid they felt.

And as someone else out there (I forget) pointed out, if you took out all the slo-mo, the movie would be 10 minutes long. I had fun and I want the DVD, but that's exactly it--if you see enough clips and parodies, really, you have all the cultural awareness of it that you need.

How in heck do you get into character when there's no...environment! I mean, you can't even go stand on the plasterboard castle balcony and emote. So weird, walking around in your leather speedo....or, prancing, as you say - in a leather speedo, I guess you are always prancing....:)

He's also said that the first day he walked on he felt like a complete tool being in that codpiece in front of all these French Canadian big bulky crew workers lmao. But later on he got used to it, and was really pleased with his physique (Ya don't say, Gerry?) and wanted to enjoy it as much as possible while he had it because after shooting he stopped working out completely. By the end he'd sprained, strained and pulled everything he could and it took months for him to recover, apparently.

Sorry, I've been a little Gerry obsessed for going on a few years now hahaha.

By "Caped To Death" do you mean the clip that happens at around 5:07 of the full version of Raining Men you linked? The clip also shows the raw, being filmed clip of that moment sometime earlier in the song but I didn't notice the time there.

Eeee, I think that's it! I think I *do* have a picture of that, but it wasn't obvious to me that it was the same scene because, you know, not in motion. Also, I kind of linked the clip without watching the whole thing--since I'd already seen the shorter version--so I completely missed that it had raw footage as well. HA.

If you can point me to the post in capit with the 300 caps, I will promise you my first born, no lie. I've been looking, but I do not see them, perhaps I need to join the comm?

And the 300 in 15 minutes was brilliant! I haven't seen it yet, but nothing ruins a film for me if I really want to see it. I was telling my damn friends about it while it was still in pre production, got everyone amped to see it months before...yet I am still the only person on earth who has not, apparently. Tragedy of my life, but reading that cheered me up a bit, thank you!

The "It's Raining 300 Men" is comedy genius! I love the movie on it's own merits, but I can see it becoming a movie that groups of girls will rent and get absolutely tanked to while drinking margaritas. And then there will be debates over who was the hottest Spartan and makeovers a la Xerxes. Good times.

As far as the non-star Spartans went, I have to say that I am extremely partial to Stelios.

I like Sonios myself (Antios, I think his name was). So pretty. Except, probably not a virgin. Captain told Leonidas that all the 300 had sons to carry on their bloodline after they died for him.

From: [identity profile] agentsculder.livejournal.com
I think except for Astinos though. He was allowed to come because the Captain had other sons who could carry on the family name, so sacrificing him was OK.

Stelios was certainly quite hot. I think you could do a few loads of laundry on those abs of his. I guess I just like my Spartans a bit less pretty. Even the Captain, the Other Guy From Troy was pretty easy on the eyes.

And while people talk about the amazing abs, I was just mesmerized by those legs. Especially on you know who. When it comes out on DVD I plan on doing a lot of drooling in private.

Date: 2007-04-15 03:18 am (UTC)
From: [identity profile] cleolinda.livejournal.com
Quite honestly, I think Stelios won my heart with all the leaping about. That, and that totally psychopathic grin he has when he's talking about finally meeting a worthwhile enemy.

Ok, while we're on the topic of 300, something's been bugging me. When Lena Headey speaks, doesn't she sound exactly like Keira Knightley? I swear, if I were just listening to them without seeing them, I would never ever be able to tell their voice apart - it's not just the sound, all the intonations sound the same too.

Date: 2007-04-15 03:20 am (UTC)
From: [identity profile] cleolinda.livejournal.com
I'd have to listen to her again to be sure. There is something in her face that reminds me a bit of Keira, although I think Lena is older.

I am actually very fond of split infinitives. : )

Date: 2007-04-15 03:02 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] lyrainverse.livejournal.com
But- but- the infinitives! They are split! Won't someone PLEASE think of the INFINITIVES?!?!

Date: 2007-04-15 05:51 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] cleolinda.livejournal.com
There's actually a pretty heated debate about whether split infinitives are all that terrible or not. I usually try to avoid them, if only because they upset people, distracting them from what I was actually trying to say, but if it's the version of the sentence that sounds best, I'll use it. Unfortunately, in this case, I wasn't thinking about it.

Haven't seen the movie yet (don't know for sure that I will) but now don't really feel the need to, thanks to your M15M and the YouTube clips! I love the full-length version, but I have to say that the I loved the clips used in the shorter version better. And also have to admit that I played them over and over and over.... too much hunky goodness!!!

Would you happen to know where I can find a quality DVD release page?

Like, something like this? (http://movies.yahoo.com/feature/summermovieguide/may.html)
But for DVDs? The Yahoo DVD section isn't as cool (I feel like it's poorly organized) as this summer guide (which gets updated every summer and has the nifty little descriptions and everything) so I was wondering if you had any suggestions beyond Yahoo. I have a problem where I see a movie in theaters and then forget about it by the time it comes out on DVD. ^.^ It bothers me because then when my dad asks what I want for my birthday, I'm like "uh..."
