It's Wednesday already?
Mar. 21st, 2007 05:13 pmWow, I am tired. Again. The good news is that I've spent the week working on Casino Royale, with a little Pirates thrown in from memory, although it's really hard to write in longhand after about ten years of constant typing. I don't mean that it's slower or more cumbersome, although it is; I mean that I can't even think unless I'm essentially composing with both hands now. I'm going to have to find time to type up my chicken scratch at some point--maybe this weekend, if I'm lucky. It's coming along reasonably well; I'm trying to skip and compress scenes the way I did with The Prestige (The "SARAH: *drinks*" bit is a good example). I know a lot of people would like a MST3K-style full-length commentary, but, you know, you have to make choices, and I feel like I made the wrong choice on the first book. Length is the one criticism I get from people who don't like my work but also from people who do, so, you know, let's at least try to do something about that.
As for the second book itself, well, I'm being maddeningly vague on purpose. I have this weird feeling that I can't talk about it too much or I'll jinx the entire endeavor, but if I don't talk about it at all, it won't feel like a real project. So... uh, sorry about that.
Meanwhile, I may or may not pass out after dinner, so this is also your Lost discussion entry.

Also, Locke is now destined to be more hated on the island than Benry, Ethan, and Michael combined.

Date: 2007-03-22 12:55 pm (UTC)Yeah, and I'm sad about it. I think he's come off as so competent all this time, it won't occur to anyone that he's working from a shattered perspective, the fear that anyone who comes to rescue them will force him to leave. Authority has never helped Locke in his life, so he has no reason to believe it would leave him be now.
But that just makes the story great!
