So it's probably not good that I'm sleepy
Feb. 16th, 2007 10:11 amToday is kind of a Cinderella day, and I think it's going to be a Cinderella weekend--it's my mother's birthday on Sunday, so there's a lot of cleaning to do (in part because family's coming over, but a lot of the cleaning is upstairs, just because I think that would make her happy). I've got wood floors to shine, tile floors to mop, laundry to wash, trash to take out, dogs to walk (as always), boxes to go through (with an eye towards forcing myself to throw their contents out. O, my papers and clippings!), and a bathroom to scrub. Also, muffins to bake, because I'm hungry. And that's not even counting tomorrow, which is going to involve birthday shopping with my sister.
By the way, if you're wondering why the linkspam has suddenly improved, it's because I've finally gotten unlazy enough to check my Google Reader RSS blog feeds again.
Drivers stuck for full day on Pa. road.
Hijacked 737 lands on Spanish island; Mauritanian hijacker gets in hot water. "A fast-thinking pilot with passengers in cahoots fooled a hijacker by braking hard upon landing, then accelerating to knock the man down. When he fell, flight attendants threw boiling water in his face, and about 10 people pounced on him, Spanish officials said Friday."
Newborn ends up in Pa. woman's pant leg.
Woman allegedly stabs man during sex. "A woman has been arrested on suspicion that she tied up a man during sex, then stabbed him repeatedly with a knife and told him she likes to drink blood, police said." AIEEE.
Johansson enjoys her Harvard Pudding.
Chris Cornell quits Audioslave amid conflicts. "The Audioslave split was not unexpected. His colleagues, guitarist Tom Morello, bassist Tim Commerford and drummer Brad Wilk, have reunited with singer Zack de la Rocha to resurrect their former band Rage Against the Machine, which will play its first show in seven years at California's Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival on April 29.... Audioslave formed in 2001, a year after Rage broke up, and recorded three studio albums. In May 2005, it became the first American band to play an outdoor show in Cuba." Huh. Anyway. As long as Chris Cornell keeps putting out earcrack like "You Know My Name"--which will appear on his next solo album, the article also says--he can do whatever he wants, as far as I'm concerned.
Aaron Eckhart joining Batman Begins sequel. "In Batman lore, [Harvey] Dent is the district attorney of Gotham City and an ally of Batman. After half his face is disfigured by acid, Dent becomes the insane crime boss known as Two Face. He chooses to do good or evil by flipping a coin. Tommy Lee Jones played the character in 1995's Batman Forever. [The Dark Knight] sees Christopher Nolan back in the director's chair with Christian Bale reprising his role as Bruce Wayne/Batman. Morgan Freeman, Michael Caine and Gary Oldman are also returning. Heath Ledger will play The Joker." I keep hearing that the Katie Holmes character will return, but recast--no word on which actress, though.
Deschanel made of 'Tin': "Zooey Deschanel (Elf) has been cast in the lead role of Tin Man, Sci Fi Channel's Robert Halmi-produced miniseries retelling of The Wizard of Oz. Deschanel will play DG, a young woman -- think Dorothy -- who finds herself transported from her dull life into the O.Z. (Outer Zone), a fantasy-filled world of wonder that's also plagued by dark magic. She'll star opposite Alan Cumming, previously cast as the Scarecrow-like character of Glitch."
Huston Vamps In 30 Days: " 'It's quite a thrilling vampire story,' [Danny] Huston (Children of Men) said. 'It takes place over a period of time [in Alaska] where there's only nighttime, which is a perfect feeding time for vampires like me. I play a character called Marlow, and I've got contact lenses, and I've the nails and sharp teeth. I'm quite evil. I do love it. I work with Josh Hartnett and Melissa George, and it's a really good, interesting group of people. We all very much got into it. Working in New Zealand was just a such a wonderful treat. It is such a wonderful country.' "
I kind of did a double-take when I saw this story because Danny Huston is one of those actors I never expect to see pop up, but I'm always glad when he does, and I don't quite know why. I say "I don't know" because the first time I remember seeing him was in The Constant Gardener, where his character is, uh, not the most likable person, but for some reason that movie cemented him in the Actors I Like category. So then he turns up in Marie Antoinette (no kidding) as her brother the Emperor, and then in Children of Men as Theo's brother, the art restorer with the strange hair, and he's kind of taken on Greg Grunberg status now ("Hey! It's Danny Huston! Hi, Danny Huston!"). But then again, Bill Nighy is a terrible person in The Constant Gardener, and I'm always glad to see him as well. So who knows?
Nancy Drew trailer Not of the Lord.
How will you die? "Cleolinda Jones: At age 78 you will die from wounds delivered by a blender after trying to make your sixteenth magarita of the day. (And it's on 3:00pm, shame on you!)"

I'd never heard of Danny Huston before and suddenly he's everywhere (by everywhere I mean 3 or 4 movies). I love watching him. His role in MA is a small one but every minute he's on screen it's a pleasure.
The inevitable Daniel Radcliffe butt shot (http://www.justjared.com/2007/02/16/daniel-radcliffe-butt/).

If this is true (and I do not question the powers that be that divined it so), I have almost reached my halflife...
At least now I know. Thank you, Miss Cleo. ;P
