cleojones: The new Golden Compass site EEEEEEEEEEEEE! I AM SO EXCITED THEY FINALLY HAVE A SITE UP SQUEE. So excited, in fact, that I had to get screencaps. Yes, that is Daniel Craig as Lord Asriel, by the way. And there's an alethiometer you can play with! Certain combinations "unlock exclusive content," but I'll be damned if I can figure out what they are. Click for larger images.

ETA: Yeah, that's Nicole Kidman as Mrs. Coulter. Also, cheats for the alethiometer have been posted in the comments, if you go looking. They unlock seven production art wallpapers--I'm going to go ahead and link to two of them, because the production design is... interesting: Lyra's London and what I'm assuming is Mrs. Coulter's carriage.

Date: 2006-12-09 05:07 pm (UTC)It's funny, I'm rereading this book for the 40th time and realized that they describe Mrs Coulter as having black hair. For some reason, I've always pictured her as a radiant blond (actually, the actress that played Marita Covarrubius from X-Files was who I pictured her as). I guess I just glossed over the black-hair part the first 39 times I read the book.
At least they have a blond Mrs Coulter in the movie, so now I don't have to completely shift my mental view of her.

Date: 2006-12-09 09:50 pm (UTC)I am not a Nicole Kidman fan, because I think that she gets cast in roles that aren't right for her, but she is so perfect for Mrs. Coulter that I was thrilled when I learned that she was the choice. Daniel Craig is younger than I imagine Lord Asrial being, but I think he'll be a good choice.
In some ways, I'm most excited about Sam Elliot as Lee Scoresby!
