So Sister Girl came home from Georgia--turns out she wasn't going whitewater rafting, she was going to a whitewater park--with tonsilitis. We're still not sure how she managed that, if it's apparently not contagious. Because if it is contagious, I could totally see her picking it up at a water park, but that also means that I am totally screwed, because I'm going to be the one taking care of her. She's really badly off, by the way--she cried all the way to the doc-in-the-box and cried all the way back, and is currently drugged up on Percocet. And this was her week off work and school, too.

I haven't been feeling so good--I'm still in Stage Two cleaning but I'm getting a little burnt out with it, and I'm kind of feeling depressed in general. Kind of feeling like I had a forward impetus last year and I let it slip through my fingers. I'm not where I thought I would be this year--haven't accomplished what I'd thought I would. I can't tell if this is hormonal (it would be about the right time for that) or brain chemistry biting me in the ass again. That, and I'm just tired all the time. This may be in part because Lucky keeps waking me up at three in the morning to take him outside, and his skin condition's acting up and he's scratching all the time. And a good bit of "all of the time" happens to be "on my bed while I'm trying to sleep."

To counteract all that, I am self-medicating with Kylie Minogue. What?

Meanwhile, the Harry Potter fandom is at a standstill reading this. Pack a lunch before you dive in (first entry's near the bottom). Fortunately, if you're new to the saga, the last installment is going up tonight--and, keep in mind, the penultimate installment's comments reveal that the accused has confessed to at least some of the sockpuppets, and the evidence is such that if she's admitted to two, she's pretty much connected to most, if not all, of them. I wouldn't mention this at all, except that the basic premise of the saga is that several trolls and kerfuffles ([livejournal.com profile] pottersginny, [livejournal.com profile] fandom_scruples, Gryffindor Tower, the trolling of Christina's journal while she was in the hospital) were all the work of one person over the years, and a lot of people have been hurt. In fact, the truth coming out has caused a lot of people--many of whom acted in good faith but on this person's misinformation--to make amends and old wounds are being healed. We still don't know who "Charlotte Lennox," the pseudononymous fandomer writing these entries, is, but I have hopes that she'll reveal herself in the final installment tonight. The whole thing is still very much in progress, but I imagine it's going to have a huge effect on fandom in general.

(BTW, the fact that Charlotte Lennox's friends call her tl;dr continually cracks me up)

Heeeeeeee.

Yeah, the posting pattern so far has been noonish and tennish, so it's probably another hour before the last part'll be up. Not that that stopped me from refreshing constantly about 9 am this morning.

I spent hours today reading that and clicking on links and just being utterly fascinated by the crazy in this fandom.

Also, feel better. I hate that sort of off feeling you're having now. And, in hopes that it will make you smile, look at the cutest icon ever.

Sending good vibes toward you and your sister.

And ugh, I will be so glad when this whole expose is over. It's good that it's getting out in the open, but I have many friends on both sides of the issue, and it's been so messy and disturbing reopening old wounds. I think the HP fandom is going to need a very stiff drink and some prozac after this.

I do feel really badly for people who, like I said, acted in good faith because they had been deceived. Most people, so far as I'm seeing, are handling it with as much grace and decency as you could hope for.

Having my sleep schedule messsed up always messes with my mood. Is there any way you could pass Lucky off to your mom for a few days to see if a good night's sleep makes you feel better?

And as you can maybe tell from my outraged posts at SF, I am obsessed with the msscribe saga. I'll be glad to have the last installment over with, to tell the truth. Then I can start pretending this woman never existed.

We've started giving him some kind of pill that may make things better; he sleeps all over the house, so generally after I've taken him outside at three in the morning, he'll settle down in the kitchen where it's cool and I get some peace.

You think the saga's bad? I was all up in Chapter Nine when it happened, man. Charitygate was *awful.*

Hope Sister Girl feels better (I had tonsilitis and had to et my tonsils taken out. it sux). And hope your funk lets up, and you can finally finish the monumental task that is cleaning your room.

I mean, omgwtfpolarbear. Siriusly. I remember putting my TOE in at an LJ just before HBP came in, that dealt with H/Hr, and then whipping it out faster than you can throw a fish after the book came out, cause it was a load of WANK.

This woman, Dionne/msscribe, wanted to get into the big BNF (Big Name Fan) circle of friends that included Cassie Claire (she of the Very Secret Diaries and the Draco Trilogy) and Heidi, who runs the Fiction Alley archive and contributes to the Leaky Cauldron news site. To that end, she made up a dozen sockpuppet accounts to praise herself, stalk herself, harass others, troll communities, gain sympathy, make herself look good by comparison, and take down the fanfic archive Gryffindor Tower, all while making it look like the Gryffindor Tower people were the bad guys for sheltering a "stalker" (who was actually msscribe). And then she harassed a cancer patient just for good measure. The Charlotte Lennox accounts are basically the first time anyone's sat down and said, "Okay, you know the trolls/stalkers fermatojam, fandom_scruples, pottersginny, and sporkify? They weren't separate people--they're all really msscribe. She was behind all of it. She harassed you and she harassed herself." It's like unmasking Keyser Soze.

And yeah, if you don't know anything about fandom in general, there's no reason any of this would make sense. It took me a while to even figure all that out.
