Jun. 19th, 2006 08:59 pmSo Sister Girl came home from Georgia--turns out she wasn't going whitewater rafting, she was going to a whitewater park--with tonsilitis. We're still not sure how she managed that, if it's apparently not contagious. Because if it is contagious, I could totally see her picking it up at a water park, but that also means that I am totally screwed, because I'm going to be the one taking care of her. She's really badly off, by the way--she cried all the way to the doc-in-the-box and cried all the way back, and is currently drugged up on Percocet. And this was her week off work and school, too.
I haven't been feeling so good--I'm still in Stage Two cleaning but I'm getting a little burnt out with it, and I'm kind of feeling depressed in general. Kind of feeling like I had a forward impetus last year and I let it slip through my fingers. I'm not where I thought I would be this year--haven't accomplished what I'd thought I would. I can't tell if this is hormonal (it would be about the right time for that) or brain chemistry biting me in the ass again. That, and I'm just tired all the time. This may be in part because Lucky keeps waking me up at three in the morning to take him outside, and his skin condition's acting up and he's scratching all the time. And a good bit of "all of the time" happens to be "on my bed while I'm trying to sleep."
To counteract all that, I am self-medicating with Kylie Minogue. What?
Meanwhile, the Harry Potter fandom is at a standstill reading this. Pack a lunch before you dive in (first entry's near the bottom). Fortunately, if you're new to the saga, the last installment is going up tonight--and, keep in mind, the penultimate installment's comments reveal that the accused has confessed to at least some of the sockpuppets, and the evidence is such that if she's admitted to two, she's pretty much connected to most, if not all, of them. I wouldn't mention this at all, except that the basic premise of the saga is that several trolls and kerfuffles (
pottersginny,
fandom_scruples, Gryffindor Tower, the trolling of Christina's journal while she was in the hospital) were all the work of one person over the years, and a lot of people have been hurt. In fact, the truth coming out has caused a lot of people--many of whom acted in good faith but on this person's misinformation--to make amends and old wounds are being healed. We still don't know who "Charlotte Lennox," the pseudononymous fandomer writing these entries, is, but I have hopes that she'll reveal herself in the final installment tonight. The whole thing is still very much in progress, but I imagine it's going to have a huge effect on fandom in general.

Date: 2006-06-20 02:04 am (UTC)Yeah, the posting pattern so far has been noonish and tennish, so it's probably another hour before the last part'll be up. Not that that stopped me from refreshing constantly about 9 am this morning.

Date: 2006-06-20 02:06 am (UTC)Also, feel better. I hate that sort of off feeling you're having now. And, in hopes that it will make you smile, look at the cutest icon ever.

Date: 2006-06-20 02:07 am (UTC)And ugh, I will be so glad when this whole expose is over. It's good that it's getting out in the open, but I have many friends on both sides of the issue, and it's been so messy and disturbing reopening old wounds. I think the HP fandom is going to need a very stiff drink and some prozac after this.

Date: 2006-06-20 02:13 am (UTC)And as you can maybe tell from my outraged posts at SF, I am obsessed with the msscribe saga. I'll be glad to have the last installment over with, to tell the truth. Then I can start pretending this woman never existed.
