Mar. 5th, 2006 05:19 pmCould I have picked a better time to come down with a dry, dry, scratchy, dry throat? I feel something coming on, but it won't hurry up and get on with it.
Anyhoo, Oscars: I've decided not to blog live this year (even as live event blogging is becoming more and more popular), woe. I just notice that I miss tons of stuff when I'm too busy typing what happened three seconds before. And since I never thought the glorious day that they would let Jon Stewart host would ever come, I kind of want to pay attention to this year's show in particular.
Also, my mom is busting her ass to get dinner ready and eaten before the Oscars. I think this is the first year (well, the first year since her cousin was nominated as a set decorator on The Fisher King) that my family has taken the show (half) as seriously as I do. I suspect this is in no small part because my mother now has a doomed, oh-so-doomed horse in the races: Pride and Prejudice in general, and Miss Keira in particular. We who know that Reese Witherspoon will not let you win the pool salute you, Mom.

Am currently watching the Red Carpet extravaganza myself, and I agree that live blogging is altogether too distracting -- especially with the split frames used by E! to give everyone information overload. So sit back and enjoy the show, and let others wear their fingers to the bone with the live stuff.

Rock band Foo fighters are supporting Alive & Well, an organisation that not only claims that there are no real link between HIV and AIDS, but also that HIV medication in fact causes AIDS, and people shouldn't be taking them.
The so-called evidence of the group has been refuted time and time again, and the fact that the band are performing shows where the organisation gets to speak to young and easily influented people really upsets me.
A couple more links about it in my lj (http://krazycat.livejournal.com/582445.html)

For ten hours a day.
For three days.
I'm going to go dull my pain with a margarita and, God willing, sleep like the dead. I am relying on your recap to fill me in on the Stewardy goodness.
