Okay, question. Who's doing this version of "Happy Together" in the first half of the trailer? It sounds very like the Turtles, but I'm 95% sure it's not (faster, and the guy sounds current). A cookie for anyone who finds the real song!

LJ news: All journals are now located at username.livejournal.com (which previously you had to pay to get--it's to avoid a security hack) and communities are community.livejournal.com/username (which I had already noticed, and wondered what that was about).Old URLs will still work, but you can save redirection time if you do switch your bookmarks to the new version.

Clarkson Won't Let 'Idol' Use Her Songs, which makes Simon Cowell a bitchy sad panda. Oh, suck it up, Cowell. If I were Kelly I wouldn't let a bunch of woodling wannabes maul my songs, either--or, worse, knock them out of the park and steal them out from under me. I wonder how much hate-mail seanpenn@gmail.com has been getting lately...

This LJ domain thing actually annoys me a little. I spent a lot of money a while back getting a lifetime account, and slowly but steadily, all the extras I paid for since then have been given to everyone else anyway - scrapbook, 100 userpics, shorter domain...

I mean, I don't have a leg to stand on when it comes to complaining, because they did it for a good cause (security), but still. The compensation was more voice post capability? Dude, I live in Australia. We can't use voice post out here. :P Even if we could, I probably wouldn't.

I can't tell you who it is, but I can up the certainty to 100% that it isn't the Turtles doing that rendition of "Happy Together." It isn't the Nylons, either. Maybe a cover made especially for that movie?

Thanks for the LJ update. I never read the LJ News.
I think the Poe story would make an awesome book/movie.

I saw that in the news yesterday, about the Australian prisoner. They had it all over the radio, freaking out because he's "dangerous" and blah blah blah. I wonder if they realise that a man who weighs that much is probably too weak to even hold a weapon, let alone use one?

That's my suspicion (particularly given the title), but who is it? And more importantly, where can I download it?

Song sounds like a revamp of the Turtles version until the very last bits of it. No luck in searching amazon or the movie's site.

By the way, have you heard of the Ipod Jeans Levis is making? Here's the press report: http://www.levistrauss.com/news/pressrelease.asp?r=1&c=0&cat=0&pr=764&area=North+America

I'm pretty sure Simple Plan did a version of it.

I'm going to second the theory of the song being a cover made especially for that movie; either that, or it's pretty obscure. I couldn't find it with Kazaa - which doesn't absolutely mean it's not out there, but I sure don't know where else to look.

Yeah, I'm out on Soulseek looking for it. Someone else has suggested it's the Simple Plan cover, but I'll need to listen to that to be sure.

Darn. I'll have to watch the trailer when I get home. I don't have admin access to the work computer to update Quicktime.

...it's to avoid a security hack

It's going to take lots o' my time to relocate and resave all the (pages and pages and pages) of LJ page links I saved in MS Word.

Because for all I know, LJ will drop new organizational changes on us any old time, several more times; and the versions I have saved now may not translate two or three more web-address updates down the line.

It's funny how I do all my shopping online, including purchases from sites not in North America or in English, and those vendors don't have to switch to this kind of domain format to maintain security.

Meanwhile ... I'll save time by dumping the feed from Neil Gaiman's blog, because by the time I scroll to that on my Friends page, the "major" quips or links he's listed have been requoted by my Flist.

I don't think it sounds like Rivers Cuomo too terribly much but Weezer did a cover of the song for Spike Jonze to use in "Adaptation" that was rejected. It's possible that they might have chosen to use it here instead. I can't find a copy of that mp3 though.

Apparently the old livejournal.com/user/username URLs still work; you can just save redirecting time if you change them. But right, there's no telling about two or three changes down the line.

*watches Beowulf trailer*

It's decent, but I only plan to be seeing one Beowulf movie, and it is of course not that one.
