Meh. The nose bothered me. But other than that... and aparently Ralph Fiennes (too tired to look up the spelling of his name) is shorter than jason issacs (again, too tired)

It needed more Snape. And an explanation for the priori incantatum. Rita Skeeter and her quill were brilliant, and hurrah for Neville!

And an explanation for the priori incantatum.

Totally. The explanation scene for that didn't make any sense, really.

Harry: I saw my mum and dad!
Dumbledore: Ahh. Priori Incantatum.
Harry: Bzzuh?
Dumbledore: *doesn't bother explaining at all?*

THANK YOU i agree totally.

but i also think that it has to do with the fact that the book was so long. and.. hermione is very angsty now. i wish they wouldve just made two movies.

Having worked at movie theaters, they rather squick me, and I very seldom go out to them. Could it be said that this might actually be a film worth NOT waiting for on DVD? I did like the others rather well, though I'm not a fanatical fan.

Harry Potter and the Goblet of Zzzzzz

Heh. SO opposite of the I SAW DERAILED AND IT WAS CAFFEINATED post. The many moods of Cleo!

I've completely overlooked all the Potter hype this time around, and been a bit pre-occupied with Rent this fall, but I can't wait to see GOF! There was a special on A&E last night, and it made me quite excited for the film.

For the time alotted them, I feel they did a good job considering how thick the book was. I would've loved to have seen more Weasleys, more Viktor/Hermione, more Mad-Eye Moody, and of course, our one and only Snuffles, but after I saw what they spent more time on, it made a lot of sense why those things were cut.

Madame Maxime was nothing like I thought she'd be...but I guess it makes it so much easier to go into the next movie then. The way they set things up in this movie was good for a smooth transition to the next book/movie and how things have to be there!!

The fact that I do not see anyone else asking this makes me worry that it has been asked too much before and you have made some post admonishing people to leave you the heck alone, and which I have missed. But do you think you'll be doing a m15m for it, or are you all m15m'ed out at this point? I just ask 'cause I lurve them, not because I think you should or that I have any right to expect one.

From: [identity profile] cleolinda.livejournal.com
No, other people are asking. It's really weird, because on one hand, I've churned out ten parodies this year, but on the other hand, I haven't posted any online. It's kind of this simultaneous feast/famine thing.

I do have plans to do GOF. Just not online. Make of that what you will. /mysterious

Well, since I have read the books, seeing GOF come alive really was nifty. I loved it, and I think it's my favorite so far (mostly because of Snape.)

The scene in the Great Hall study hall? Yeah, I was cracking up. It was just such a Snape thing to do. Glide up discreetly, whomp Ron upside the head with the book, walk away discreetly again. And when he kind of...rolled up his sleeves to hit the boys as if to say "What in the name of God did I do to deserve to be this long-suffering?"...eh, I dunno.

It's difficult watching him on screen, interacting with Dumbledore and Harry and everybody when you consider...book six. ::doom music plays:: (Even though I am a firm believer in the SNAPE IS INNOCENT stuff.)

As far as staying on plot...yeah, plotholes the size of Alabama, but then again, we're Harry Potter fans! We're used to that in our movies, yeah?

I must say, Dan's acting has gotten better. The whole thing when he brought Cedric's body back and the band was playing and there was cheering and he was flung over Diggory's body just sobbing hit me hard.

Speaking of which, did anyone else get a Jack Sparrow-esque vibe from Voldemort? God, I loved how well Ralph did. The taunting and the jeering and how he seemed so evil and bad and...perfect. It was odd, though, that Ralph was so much shorter than Jason Isaacs. It was also odd to see Malfoy senior submissive to another person--if you can call him a person.

The courtroom scene kind of got me. The cage they had Karkaroff (hereafter known as "Jafar") in was odd. There was a point in that scene, when the audience (who hadn't read the book) were gasping at the torture-cage, that I just wanted to stand up and yell, NOBODY EVER EXPECTS THE SPANISH INQUISITION IN A CHILDREN'S MOVIE!...
...even though it really wasn't. Definitely deserved the PG-13 rating.

Overall, I enjoyed it. When you combine the movie and the book, it's okay. When you let the movie stand on its own, it was...well, plot-holey. I enjoyed it better than I did the butchering of PoA anyway.

I think the whole trio are becoming good actors, but my particular favourite here is Rupert Grint, he's really going great. The look on his face when Harry's name was called from the goblet? Very well done.

EEE!!!! IT WAS SOOO GOOD AND SO WORTH SEEING THE MIDNIGHT SHOW!! </ freakout>

I actually think it was my favorite movie. I actually don't really like the 3rd one and I thought this was a vast improvement. I LOVED the end and the Yule Ball. Neville was awesome. I understand the changes they made and I'm ok with them. So overall, it was awesome! I wanna go see it again!

I thought it was awesome, and I'm just going to be selfish and not really care if it was confusing to people who haven't read the books. And I expected the movie to have a lot of omissions and streamlines, but one in particular bothered me. To me, one of the most poignant scenes in the book is Barty Crouch Jr. screaming, "Father, please!" and BC Sr. being all, "You're no son of mine." So I was really disappointed when in the movie he was just outwardly defiant and evil. And I think the omission of an explanation that bugged the most was how Barty got out of Azkaban.

But bottom line: it was still awesome. (I admit it, the scene where Harry brings Cedric's body back, I broke down and cried)

Date: 2005-11-19 04:23 am (UTC)
From: [identity profile] cleolinda.livejournal.com
Yeah, "Father, please!" would have been so easy to include--it wasn't a matter of streamlining. And it would have helped with the "BC Sr. has a heart of stone" thing because--I don't know about you, but every time *I* saw BC Sr., he seemed to be faint and shaky and guilt-ridden. I think we needed that ambiguity in there for both characters.

I had a few tiny nitpicks like that throughout the whole thing--like, I don't care if you change or leave out stuff, so long as it works as a whole. Which it mostly did, because it was AWESOME.
