If those kids down the street don't stop playing ding-dong-ditch with our front door, they are about to get pwned. By my stepfather. With his Army Reserve rifle. I'm just saying.

David, I think you wanted something like this?

New Orleans Police Beating Caught on Tape.

Tight security in New York, plotter may be in US.

Is Katie Holmes already showing? How far along is she, anyway? Was this whole crazy relationship really about getting Tom a biological child so he could ascend to the inner circles of Scientology? (You laugh, but I have heard that that is what it takes as you get higher up.)

"Bitch, where my nuts?" "I got your nuts, Cheeky, I got your nuts! Just gimme another hit, Cheeky!" (Thanks to psammead.)

Once again, it's the time of the year for snowflakes. (Thanks to mtolivepickles.)

A rough schedule of silverjewelryclub.com items coming up. And then take those pictures and resize them to roughly 80-85 pixels tall, and you can decide what you really want or not. (Oh, shit! That smoky quartz ring is actually my size!)

Do They Know It's Hallowe'en? "This fall’s sweetest – and scariest – benefit song is DO THEY KNOW IT’S HALLOWE’EN. This single features a star-studded ensemble known as the NORTH AMERICAN HALLOWEEN PREVENTION INITIATIVE. Both a trick and a treat, this song is a satire - as well as a charity-benefit song with all proceeds being donated to UNICEF. An epic journey into the pulsating heart of fear, this song is a call-to-arms featuring: Beck, Sum 41, The Arcade Fire, Sonic Youth, Yeah Yeah Yeahs, Sloan, Peaches, Feist, Devendra Banhart, Wolf Parade, Postal Service, Buck 65, comedian David Cross, Sex Pistols’ founder Malcolm McLaren, Elvira, Mistress of the Dark, 60s soul legend Gino Washington, psychedelic singer Roky Erickson, Los Angeles 70s group Sparks, and Inuit throat singer, Tagaq (a frequent collaborator with Björk)." (Thanks to komalow.)

[livejournal.com profile] mokeyhokey: Just an FYI: the dharmaindustries.com site has been picked apart by the Lost fanboys at Something Awful (to the point of reverse-engineering the flash file, which, damn) and it does absolutely nothing. The WHOIS info on the domain strongly suggests that it's a fan-made site.

[livejournal.com profile] entropygoddess: It may interest you to know the "Author expelled after calling Harry Potter gay" story was apparently wrong and was withdrawn by Reuters. I have my suspicions they were simply alarmed to see the Internet slash community can of worms they had opened up with the original story. ;)

[livejournal.com profile] megalion: "BTW if you haven't already heard about it... probably would be fun for you and some of your audience: [Unknown site tag] - fan fic challenge, 100 pieces, no time limit, 100 word minimum. It's gotten me inspired to try my hand at writing fanfic when I never have before!" I actually did see this earlier today--I don't write fanfic, but the prompts/requirements are intriguing.

(What genre would you call Black Ribbon, if you're just having to choose from a drop-down menu? Horror? Historical? Science fiction... well, there's not much science, so... fantasy? Literary fiction? Uh... other? Oh, and I'm now Cleolinda on nanowrimo.org. Go here to actually join [livejournal.com profile] rosehannah, which will be closed for copyright-protecting purposes.)

Yeah, that's what I was thinking - for a few of my (female) friends a small thing like one piece and chocolate is ok, but for more Important People (i.e. sisters) I am trying to get them a couple of matching pieces as part of a bigger overall gift :) Commonly my sisters and I give each other lots of little gifts and a few larger ones at Christmas.

This is great for someone as broke as I am right now! :)

That's an awesome idea. It's kind of a pain in the ass to track the matching bits down, but I have two heart pendants now--one garnet, one blue topaz. You could totally get three or four, or all the colors, or whatever, and kind of do an interchangeable pendant thing, or one for each day of the week, or that kind of jewelry-set concept. Or a pendant and matching earrings, or... yeah. I spend too much time at this site.

(If they offered tanzanite or iolite, I would be bankrupt.)

You spend too much time on the site? I've practically memorized the damn schedule! Heh. I've found a few matching necklace/earring sets, although it isn't easy. The rings are a total bad temptation for me - all of the 5 & 6 ones call to me.

(if they offered opals, which they never would, I would never sleep again - I'd just sit there watching the little timer.) :)
