We're okay so far. Hasn't really hit yet--a little rain, a restless wind, a few momentary blackouts. Apparently it's supposed to really get here "between midnight and six a.m.," as opposed to "by two o'clock this afternoon." Mom made a cake and I'm eating one of those little DiGiorno pizzas. Everyone's fine.

Dennis sounds lazy and slow. Hopefully, he'll be a breeze by the time he lollygags over to your place.

Seems he's losing power (wuss), so by the time the worst gets there, it won't be so bad. I hope. Hang in there.

Now they're saying 'from nine to twelve' for those of us slightly north of y'all. I wish they'd just make up their minds already.

I just got in from work, and as I was crossing the bridge (my neighborhood is right on Hurricane Creek), I realized being flooded in tomorrow is definitely a possiblity. Ordinarily, I'd be worried, but hey...if it means I can call in, it's not all bad.

It's really loud here on the Gulf Coast.

And I'm worried about the baby birds. :(

Stay safe; it pretty much dodged us as it went in near Pensacola and made a weird angle. :-/

Glad to hear you're okay! I was supposed to fly to Toronto today through Atlanta, but all flights were delayed so I'm going tomorrow instead. Hope everything stays okay!

It's ironic that I moved from Birmingham to Jacksonville, FL, and it looks like you're going to get hit harder than I was.

*sigh* Your posts always make me want to raid my kitchen. Bad, Cleo. ;)
Glad everything is fine so far. Being from the Midwest, I wouldn't even know what to expect.

...the tornadoes here are bad enough.

How to survive a Florida hurricane.

TV says 'OMG WE'RE ALL GONNA DIE!'

You, if you have an IQ over 12, know whether your house will survive a bunch of fucking wind.

You take your shit to a shelter.

Wind comes by, you leave and you go "Oooh, lookit all the trees that fell over!"

Yeah, I joke because I'm evil and heartless.

OT: Diane Duane talks about fanfic

Date: 2005-07-11 03:36 am (UTC)
From: [identity profile] particle-person.livejournal.com
Diane Duane, who wrote So You Want To Be a Wizard among other wonderful books, is experimenting with making her own podcasts (blog posts in mp3 format). As a test, she digitized one of her as-yet-unposted blog entries on fanfic.

She has a rare perspective, having written fanfic for money (Star Trek novelizations), fanfic for her own enjoyment, and, as a professional novelist, she commits fiction regularly. She can claim to have been on all three sides of the fence, a neat fic trick.

Anyway, here's (http://wizcast.youngwizards.net/10_July_2005_Some_Thoughts_On_Fanfic.mp3) her podcast. Only an mp3 player is required to listen to it.

Missing you and hoping you're okay. By this time, the worst should be over, no?
