We're okay so far. Hasn't really hit yet--a little rain, a restless wind, a few momentary blackouts. Apparently it's supposed to really get here "between midnight and six a.m.," as opposed to "by two o'clock this afternoon." Mom made a cake and I'm eating one of those little DiGiorno pizzas. Everyone's fine.

Glad everything is fine so far. Being from the Midwest, I wouldn't even know what to expect.
...the tornadoes here are bad enough.

TV says 'OMG WE'RE ALL GONNA DIE!'
You, if you have an IQ over 12, know whether your house will survive a bunch of fucking wind.
You take your shit to a shelter.
Wind comes by, you leave and you go "Oooh, lookit all the trees that fell over!"
Yeah, I joke because I'm evil and heartless.

Good luck with Dennis!

OT: Diane Duane talks about fanfic
She has a rare perspective, having written fanfic for money (Star Trek novelizations), fanfic for her own enjoyment, and, as a professional novelist, she commits fiction regularly. She can claim to have been on all three sides of the fence, a neat fic trick.
Anyway, here's (http://wizcast.youngwizards.net/10_July_2005_Some_Thoughts_On_Fanfic.mp3) her podcast. Only an mp3 player is required to listen to it.
