Apr. 9th, 2005 08:39 pmHmm. I ended up with generic CVS cough drops, but they're citrus enough. I think what I was talking about earlier was something like "Halls Vitamin C Defense," if you go looking for those. Luden's cherry are also good, now that I think about it.
The Endless Cough is setting in. Woe.
Question: Crappy and/or has-been '80s metal band that would show up at a monster truck rally. Need a name. No, "Limozeen," as perfect as it is, will not work, as it is someone else's joke. It's a throwaway joke for Gladiator, but... you know me and weird little details. Was tempted to use "Pantera" for no good reason, but was then reminded of recent events that would make that a bad idea. (Maybe Slaughter? Jackyl? ...my God, "Nelson"? Are these people kidding?)
ETA: Heh. Now I'm really tempted to go with "Wyld Stallyns." And you know, given the time-travel thing, it would actually work...

Date: 2005-04-10 01:42 am (UTC)What about Europe, the band? I only mention them because whenever they play "The Final Countdown" on "Arrested Development," I just lose it....

Date: 2005-04-10 01:50 am (UTC)Luden's cherry cough drops are indeed the bomb. Hall's strawberry are also quite good.

Date: 2005-04-10 04:36 am (UTC)Shut up, I lost a bet.
Anyway, I recall AC/DC being played ad nauseum. I think they also played a lot of Ozzy, but that was during the second half of the rally...my ears had already started to try and crawl INSIDE my skull at that point.

Date: 2005-04-10 05:19 am (UTC)Back when I used to waitress at a Really Big Amphitheater (http://www.artscenter.com/main.html) (for 7 summers), Ozzfest came and the lawn was totally trashed, so they put down tons of sand to stop the mud and grass from basically eroding right down into the seats. WELL. The next day was Motley Crue, and suddenly right before the show it started to pour. The sand flowed down and clogged all the storm drains (smart, people) and right before the band was due, this huge FLOOD came down into the seats. All of us waitresses were literally sitting on the rails to keep out of the water, and in the front it was so deep it was halfway up to the stage and was going up the side ramps where the speakers were. The stagehands had to move everything out of the way so no one got electrocuted.
BUT. Did this hinder the fans? NO. They ran down and jumped into the nasty pools of muddy water, splashing around like this was the coolest thing ever. And did it stop the band? OF COURSE NOT. They came out and played their usual loud set with fire effects and lovely low-class almost naked women dancing in the water.
In sum - after witnessing that show, I could totally see Motley Crue, their naked women, AND all their fans not only going to a monster truck rally, but drinkin' some beer and rolling in the mud there as well.

Date: 2005-04-10 06:16 am (UTC)Another good one, Bang Tango! Or the Bulletboys. I hated the Bulletboys, they deserve to play a monster truck rally.
