Hmm. I ended up with generic CVS cough drops, but they're citrus enough. I think what I was talking about earlier was something like "Halls Vitamin C Defense," if you go looking for those. Luden's cherry are also good, now that I think about it.

The Endless Cough is setting in. Woe.

Question: Crappy and/or has-been '80s metal band that would show up at a monster truck rally. Need a name. No, "Limozeen," as perfect as it is, will not work, as it is someone else's joke. It's a throwaway joke for Gladiator, but... you know me and weird little details. Was tempted to use "Pantera" for no good reason, but was then reminded of recent events that would make that a bad idea. (Maybe Slaughter? Jackyl? ...my God, "Nelson"? Are these people kidding?)

ETA: Heh. Now I'm really tempted to go with "Wyld Stallyns." And you know, given the time-travel thing, it would actually work...

You sure they weren't Fruit Breezers (http://www.hallsfruitbreezers.com/kindex.html)? 'Cause dem good.

What about Europe, the band? I only mention them because whenever they play "The Final Countdown" on "Arrested Development," I just lose it....

On second thought: Warrant. Definitely Warrant.

Scorpions. Come on, "Rock You Like A Hurricane"? It doesn't get cheesier.

KISS, without a doubt.

Luden's cherry cough drops are so addicting. They're like candy. It's almost a treat to be sick when you can eat those babies. (note that I said almost)

Whitesnake.

Luden's cherry cough drops are indeed the bomb. Hall's strawberry are also quite good.

It's true. Have you had the berry mix? Or the citrus? When I sang in a choir, those things were NEVER out of my purse. Delicious.

Oh my god, I know. I wonder if they actually do anything. The box says they're just "throat drops"... I think it's a secret plan by dentists to create millions of cavities within sick people worldwide.

...Brilliant.

Ooo - the berry mix is great, as well. But I've never had the citrus. *makes a note of that*

The active ingredient is pectin.

...so in a way, no. No more than sucking on any hard candy will. However, they don't irritate, and they encourage your throat to lubricate itself better, so they do help, they just don't numb.

In better news, they don't have any side effects. So you actually CAN treat them like candy. /info from NP Mum.

LOL - and I find myself chewing them up, rather than sucking on them for a long period of time. I just can't help it. But you're right...then your teeth are laden with that hard sugar and you have to practically get a steel toothpick to remove it. ;)

I'm embarrassed, because I own CDs by all of these hair bands being mentioned by the other posters and you.

That having been said, I'd volunteer Warrant or White Lion. :)

Twisted Sister, hands down. C'mon, Dee Snider? Have you since seen any man who wears more makeup? And, "We're not gonna take it!"...no better anthem for a monster truck rally. Serious y'all.

Night Ranger? Cinderella? Poison?

Or perhaps the all time kings of butt-rock: Motley. Crue.

Cleolinda, have you ever read Anne George? She was a mystery writer who lived and set her mysteries in Birmingham Alabama. (She passed away a few years ago.) I remember her writing in one of her books about the curse of "the sinus".

I was quite the fan of Enuff Z'nuff, singers of "Fly High Michelle" and...other hits? Anyway, I imagine they'd fit right in on the monster truck rally circuit. That is, if the members aren't working at your local Radio Shack or Quiznos.

Oh, I was listening to Whitesnake this morning. I have no shame. And ever since I was flipping channels and caught some comedian or other on VH1 ragging on Nelson, I keep having this urge to go download "Love and Affection." I just don't see where the "metal" part of the "hair metal" applies to Nelson, is all...

Oh, wow, I haven't--but if she set her books in Birmingham, I've got to at least give them a look now.

I think you would like them. They are fun, light reading. The Vulcan statue always gets at least one mention.
