Apr. 9th, 2005 12:23 pmNNNNNGGGGHHHHH. I loathe head colds, and here's why: if you get a fever or a stomach upset of some sort, the worst is basically all upfront. You suffer a little, you down some meds, you recover. With head colds, it's like each new phase is its own fresh hell. The Allergra D seems to be working, in that now all this crap is mutating and migrating to my throat and chest. (Yay! Another mucus report! I know you're thrilled.) So now I'm developing the Sporadic Hard Cough, which is still not as awful as the Endless Racking Cough That Won't Stop And Will, In Fact, Get You Shot In Many Classrooms And Movie Theaters. And yet I can almost deal with the Endless Cough better, because it's sort of a mind over matter thing: you just have to not start coughing in the first place. It's like not scratching mosquito bites: if you can hold off that first time, you can conquer it. Granted, it's hard as hell to not cough, but at least it's a silent struggle that won't get your punk ass capped in fine establishments all over town. The Sporadic Hard Cough is easier to control, but it hurts, dammit. So, to this end, I am stocking up on cough drops, which I normally hate, but there's a specific brand that comes in lemon, orange and grapefruit, and don't taste coughy-droppy at all, and when Mom gets back from her Saturday Shopping Safari of Savings, I'll let you know what the name is.
