Hey, you know what's not cool? Using lines from one of my "Fifteen Minutes" to win a contest. Don't do that. Or rather, do that, and the other 3000 people who have also read it will bust your ass. I'm just saying.

Vladimir's off on Susak visiting his mother again; The Lovely Emily should be coming back from modding the the young writers' camp; and I'm not sure when Valerie and Mr. Typo will be in town precisely, but they'll be around this week. I'm mostly tired and cranky. Meanwhile, I have an agent's contract sitting on my desk waiting to be signed as we speak, so I think it's safe to say that I now have official representation.

Have been mostly useless this weekend, although I did curl up in bed and reread vols. 1 and 2 of the League of Extraordinary Gentlemen comic while it rained like hell yesterday. The thing I noticed was that--if you read "Allan and the Sundered Veil" in the back of the first volume, and then the little world-travels bits in the back of the second, you basically get a good bit of what they're going to feature in the upcoming third volume, as I understand it--the preview art I saw had Mina and Randolph Carter. Also, I hadn't read everything in the back of the second volume, and I finally noticed that a major surviving character--uh, dies. Thanks. That's great.

I miss Hyde.

Ummm - this means I'm going to have to read both volumes again now doesn't it.....

Do you know where Alan Moore gets his crack? It must be damned fine stuff......

It wasn't anything major, just a weekly caption contest, but yeah--stupid as all get-out, especially since Mugglenet is the site that linked to "POA in 15 Minutes" in the first place.

Oh, I don't know that death is in order. I'm more surprised that no one at Mugglenet noticed it sooner, considering that the site sent their entire freakin' readership over to [livejournal.com profile] m15m this week. I still haven't turned email notification back on for that entry--it's got 1500+ comments now. And I'm pretty sure I remember the person in question, who had a distinctive name, commenting on the original entry. It's more--well, amazingly dumb than anything.

You're very mature and have a good perspective on this. I'm jealous and temperamental over my own stuff (such as that I actually have</> any "stuff") and would be out for bloody revenge.

I initially misread that as "Satan's princess," which gave me a whole different image - that of Hollywood being Satan's squealing little bitch-doggie. Which is not, of course, wholly inaccurate.

Totally with you on that. I'll sign the petition to have it changed. We are starting one right..?

And I'm confused by the info on ComingSoon.net. If Nic Cage is the archaeologist, and Sean Bean is the other major lead, why is Sean's character not mentioned? I thought it was Nic Cage and Sean Bean, not Nic Cage and whatshisface Nic Cage's friends character. (Too lazy to go back to the page and look for the other actors name). Is Sean just not well known enough in the States yet to warrant further comment?

Probably not known well enough by name, but at the same time, pretty recognizable... actually, this reeks of that old Cast a Fairly Big-Name Supporting Actor as the Secret Villain and Then Studiously Avoid Mentioning Him in the Press Materials gambit. They did it for Seven, and they did it for Kiss the Girls. Just a hunch.

I hope the caption gets taken out. again, i'm a huge fan and i can't wait for the next m15m! ~rach

If you ever get the chance, check out the super hard-core special edition hardcover two-book boxed set they did for the first volume of League of Extraordinary Gentlement. The second book contains all of Alan Moore's original scripts and instructions to the artist, and it makes for some fascinating reading.

If you're talking about the "death" from the travelogue, I'd tend to consider it a bit... suspect. Mina's journal entries were pretty sketchy:

"Went to find the Fountain of Youth. Oops, Allan died... but his hot young son lives in the same village where he died. Spooky coincidence! Time to hook up!"

I miss Hyde as well, although I love the way he went out.

Hi!

Yeah... I've been getting slow notification myself. Odd, that.

I'm about 99 percent sure that Allan Jr. was actually Allan, which makes me smile. I'd love to see another League comic dealing with the remainders of the group, but I'm not sure whether Moore's exit from comics is total or not.

Exit comics what? No! He can't! What?

Actually, I've seen advance art from League 3--Mina and John Carter. Don't know who else is in it, but they damn better put that out.

Yeah, he said that he was going to retire from mainstream comics on his 50th birthday (http://www.ninthart.com/display.php?article=710).
Hope that "League" doesn't count as mainstream, but I've got a feeling that it does where things like The Birth Caul (http://books.fantasticfiction.co.uk/n5/n28736.htm?authorid=4841) wouldn't.

John Carter and Mina? Very, very interesting... and hinted at in "Allan and the Sundered Veil," if I'm not mistaken. One of his visions or somesuch.

Do what's important.

WORD. I mean, it is bad enough Nick Cage is in the movie (I make a point to try and avoid them), but to ignore my Bean. Now that's just wrong. Sick and wrong. *shakes teeny fist* I think he is the shady villain, however. Because he always is (mmmsexy villains).
