@LiveJournal: Currently experiencing a DDoS attack for the past two days -- status.livejournal.org
@gildedbat: @LiveJournal pity they're going to have to set that "days without a DDoS attack" sign back to 0. They got all the way over 100.
@LJmysticowl: Russian news confirms, also says that paid accounts will be credited the time they lost due to downtime.
@chez_amanda: There's also this Time article about the attacks that I just read.
ETA: @LiveJournal: Please to say we are up and running again! Thank you, U.S. and Moscow teams, who have worked tirelessly to get things restored! Happy LJing!
So... that's what's up with that, then. I want to stay on LiveJournal, but in order to do that, I'm gonna have to have a LiveJournal to stay on. (This entry is posted on both LJ and DW. As long as I can crosspost, I will.)
As a reminder in case you didn't see it: the Made of Fail podcast with Kevin, sometimes Dayna, Mark, Rinna and me, "Mischief Managed"! If the LJ link doesn't work, this is the direct download (or you can subscribe in iTunes; it's free). New Photos From The Hunger Games; @EW: Our Cover: First look at Gale (Liam Hemsworth) & Peeta (Josh Hutcherson) of 'The Hunger Games'; Is Lionsgate over-playing their hand with 'The Hunger Games' promotion?

First Look at James Howson as Heathcliff in Andrea Arnold's 'Wuthering Heights.' Here's the interesting thing about casting a black actor as Heathcliff in a period movie: I think you can defend it textually. I went back and looked at the part where the ragged, orphaned Heathcliff is first brought home ("I had a peep at a dirty, ragged, black-haired child"; "that gipsy brat") and found a later description of adult Heathcliff as "He is a dark-skinned gipsy in aspect." "Gipsy" or "gypsy" refers most often to the Romani or Roma people, who seem to have originated in India, based on genetics and linguistics. However, "gypsy" derives from "Egyptian" and thus is something of a misnomer--my point here being, the 1800s English conception of what a "gipsy" should look like was probably fairly broad and inexact. It could mean a lot of things. You've got room, in my opinion, to cast within a plausible range of "dark" tones.
First Look At Michael Fassbender And Carey Mulligan In 'Shame,' Plus Many More New Movie Images.
@cleolinda: To repeat what I said yesterday: There are no movies Michael Fassbender is not in. There are only movies you have not found him in yet.

Date: 2011-07-29 04:17 pm (UTC)Essentially, it’s a remake (already) of Battle: LA, but from the Navy ships’ point of view. *rolls eyes* At least, that’s what I get from it.
I haven't read the Hunger Games books (yet, they're next on my list), but I'm getting the feeling they're going to hype this up so much, that when it does finally hit theaters, fans will end up disappointed. I'm starting to feel like they're trying too hard to make it the next Twilight or Harry Potter series and that it may very well backfire on them.
