Please welcome! The president of the Academy and the president of ABC Disney! I think! I'm not sure! They are delighted that they have "just renewed [their] vows" to continue airing the Oscars on ABC through 2020! Thank you, and enjoy your evening!

Ah, it was so Anne Hathaway could change into a black-overlaid-with-lace dress. She has made up with Hugh Jackass, and he appears on stage with Nicole Kidman (sparkly white). It's a montage! In the beginning: there was Charlie Chaplin, and they had no music. Then they had musicals! And the Star Wars theme! LET US PLAY IT FOR YOU NOW. Needs moar interpretive dancing.

Music (Original Score)
“How to Train Your Dragon” John Powell
“Inception” Hans Zimmer
“The King's Speech” Alexandre Desplat
“127 Hours” A.R. Rahman
“The Social Network” Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross

Seriously, if I can't have dance troupes krumping to the strains of "Mombasa," I don't know why we're bothering. Winner: Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross! Reznor: "Is this really... happening." I KNOW RIGHT. I mean, he'd won before--which show did he accept with "I'm just as surprised as all of you are"?

Franco: "I am six degrees of Kevin Bacon away from our next presenters. Look it up, on the internet." Please welcome! Scarlett Johansson in burgundy and short hair! Matthew McConaughey, who repeats "sounnnnd" every time Johansson says it! Well, it's good to know that Franco is generous with his stash.

Sound Mixing
“Inception” Lora Hirschberg, Gary A. Rizzo and Ed Novick
“The King's Speech” Paul Hamblin, Martin Jensen and John Midgley
“Salt” Jeffrey J. Haboush, Greg P. Russell, Scott Millan and William Sarokin
“The Social Network” Ren Klyce, David Parker, Michael Semanick and Mark Weingarten
“True Grit” Skip Lievsay, Craig Berkey, Greg Orloff and Peter F. Kurland

Winner: Johansson is struggling to say "Lora Hirschberg" while McConaughey's saying "Inception" over her and I am starting to think that maybe everyone backstage is smoking. "HOLY COW!" says one of the winners who is not Lora Hirschberg. He is softly played off stage before anyone else gets to talk.

Sound Editing
“Inception” Richard King
“Toy Story 3” Tom Myers and Michael Silvers
“Tron: Legacy” Gwendolyn Yates Whittle and Addison Teague
“True Grit” Skip Lievsay and Craig Berkey
“Unstoppable” Mark P. Stoeckinger

"Mm-hm," says McConaughey. "Inception." "I owe this a thousand percent to Chris Nolan," says Richard King, while I mull over the absence of those little intros they used to do where they'd actually show you what Sound Editing was.
