JAMES FRANCO / Aron Ralston - "127 HOURS" (Fox Searchlight Pictures)
Man, they are really bad at picking representative nominee clips. Colin Firth (who wins) looks like he got it for Most Shoutiest Oscar Bait Movie, and James Franco seems to be in a movie about feeling really bad that he didn't call his mom back. Aw, Colin Firth says he used to flash his SAG card around hoping it would get him "female attention, into night clubs, high-level government facilities... Looking at who's here, I'd like to thank security for letting me into this building." Aw.
Please welcome! Donald Sutherland! SIR, YOU HAVE FOUR MINUTES.

HUGE cheer for The King's Speech, which wins, and also just took the DGA last night, even though the visual direction was the one thing I complained about--we do seem to be moving away from The Social Network here. At the same time, the SAGs are a bit of a statistical outlier, because a lot of Great Movie Best Picture nominees aren't the ones with the most acting nominations COUGHAVATARCOUGH, so this is a chance for a really strong group of actors to be rewarded separately from the overall movie. But yeah. It is looking ever more certain. And all this time, by the way, Geoffrey Rush has been delightfully rambling on about the various actors and what it means to be actors acting and the little boy who welcomes the Duke of York to his first appointment "and the delicious Claire Bloom who I only got to meet in the trailer" and how a little girl in the movie could be standing on this stage seventy years from now and holy shit, I just noticed that Donald Sutherland has the most amazing muttonchop whiskers IT IS NINE O'CLOCK GOOD NIGHT.
It was absolutely imperative that we end on time, you see. Next up, on TNT/TBS... the Screen Actors' Guild Awards. Oh.
