TONNER 2010 SUMMER LINE

I DO NOT LIKE THE ALICE
I DO NOT LIKE THE OUTFIT
ALTHOUGH IT IS NOT THE WORST ONE IN NEW MOON
THE ONE THAT LOOKED LIKE THE PAINTER'S SMOCK
IN VOLTERRA
MAYBE THE NEXT PROTOTYPE PICTURE WILL BE BETTER
MAYBE I CAN MESS THE HAIR UP
(ETA: Okay, look, people. "I can mess the hair up" means I will be buying it anyway, because I love Alice. If I am really sincerely angry about something, I will not express that in capslock. Capslock is for exaggerating and playing things up. It's not one of the outfits I did like, but I can live with it. I suspect they will fix the hair to be more flipped out and quietly change the picture on the site. It's a cute doll as it is, but it's frustrating, in a not-that-it-really-matters way, to see them get the Galadriel so right and then mess up something as key as the hair--a major Alice feature--on this one and give it one of the less-interesting outfits. People asked me to report my initial gut reaction when I saw it. So I did. But it's okay.)
A quick rundown:
Twilight: Oh God, the new Bella likeness is... no. (I will totally buy the outfit if someone sells it separately.) We're holding steady with the Edward likeness, although the gaze is SUPER INTENSE. Nice suit, though.
Lord of the Rings: Besides the Galadriel, there's a Legolas, but no pictures yet. I still crave the Arwen, even though the dress isn't entirely movie-accurate, because it is pretty.
Firefly: You can see the Inara, but it is sold out. I think they said they'd be doing a different one later.
Prince of Persia: As previously revealed. I would totally go for the Tamina if it was the full princess/priestess outfit with all the veils.
Jonah Hex: Really? Really?
omg my moneys

Date: 2010-06-10 09:36 pm (UTC)same with the Arwen one. pretty pretty dress..
but shoot, they are so expensive!!
the alice one....the outfit is cute. I would so wear it.
but with that hair and face... she reminds me of that alien woman, Anna, from the remake of "V".
ooh Prince of Persia Dolls...
.....
I honestly think Tonner doll painters have something against male dolls. that is one fugly Dastan.
it doesn't even looks like Jake Gyllenhaal!
(I now have the theory that the only reason why the jacob and Edward dolls keep getting reworked is because Tonner and co. Know that if they mess Jacob and Edward the crazy twilards will choke them in their sleep).
they should hire this guy to supervise the doll face painting:

I bet he would get it spot on.
although the Tamina one is pretty.
but.. are these still prototypes for the persia dolls or the final ones?

Date: 2010-06-10 09:52 pm (UTC)A friend linked me to him when I was complaining about the Firefly dolls. If anyone could make the Alice not suck, I think it would be him.

Date: 2010-06-10 10:01 pm (UTC)And then the profile shot made me squeal because OKAY I TOTALLY SEE IT NOW.
...could they maybe re-use the mold and give me a Cate!Elizabeth? I'd so get that doll and all its costumes. Maybe they could make it with very short hair and then sell wigs for it, because I would buy those, too.

Date: 2010-06-10 11:33 pm (UTC)Also, I would pay anything they wanted for an Elizabeth doll from the first scene of the first movie, the red and blue-green dress where they're out dancing in the field. That is one of my favorite movie costumes ever.

Date: 2010-06-11 12:03 am (UTC)I followed the link to Tonner, and was looking through Harry Potter, and my husband glanced over from Warcrack while I was looking at the new Pimp!daddy! Malfoy, and snorted "He's fat!! He looks like Harvey Korman in a blonde wig!" From the mouths of game addicted husbands...

Date: 2010-06-11 02:56 am (UTC)I don't even like the books and I'm mad about this. Heh.
Wow, the Edward stare IS really intense. Almost like the exaggerated stare someone gives you when they are joking around and want you to know they are "staring intently." Weeeeiiird.
Ew, Mal from Firefly is totally misshapen. What's up with that? Nathan Fillion is rugged, but not THAT rugged. O_o
The outfit is great, though. It makes me wish there was a little button in his back that you could push to get him to say the, "I aim to misbehave." quote. Hee.
...WOW, Saloon Lilah. You get DOWN with your ball-joint-revealing self.
