Sister Girl will apparently be able to keep her finger, although she assures me it was "barely holding on." They gave her a digital block (apparently this is supposed to numb the entire finger?) but it... kind of didn't work, and she felt all four stitches. (They offered DermaBond as an alternative. That's right: they offered to glue my sister's finger back on.) The doctor (who, if he was an intern as she had feared, was the oldest one on record) asked if he should stop or try something else and she said, "NO JUST FINISH IT OKAY JUST FINISH IT I JUST WANT IT TO BE OVER." Then, they put a Band-Aid on her finger, which is really so useless that I feel like it must have been cosmetic, or maybe just to keep the stitches dry. She then entered an outpatient treatment program of Taco Bell and OxyContin, and will be off work a couple of days while she is painkillered up.

Meanwhile, I forgot to mention that there's a new Made of Fail podcast up with MarzGurl from That Guy With the Glasses. (Guys, am I supposed to be on the next one this month? I can't remember.)

Meanwhile-meanwhile, over at Formspring: 175 anonymous questions answered, 75 to go. It seems to be glitching, though, and won't show anything when you click "more." Maybe I'll copypaste the answers somewhere else periodically. They better come back, though, because that's like 150 answers lost if they don't.

Also, barring unforeseen circumstances, I will be liveblogging the Oscars tonight. My understanding is that, due to a TV affiliate dispute of some kind in New York, some channels will not be allowed to carry the Oscars. You will be able to watch them streaming live (in theory. Good luck with that) courtesy of the AP.

Hooray re: liveblogging; I was going to ask but didn't want to overload formspring further.

Semi-yay for the finger - it's amazing how nicely things like that can heal. Heck, if she doesn't have a hand injury, she can't be a real chef; I think there's a rule...:)

That sounds like an awesome treatment program.

Yay for SisterGirl! Fingerpocalypse was scary. :) And yeah, the bandaid is probably just for keeping it clean and preventing her from having to look at the stitches.

I'm glad that your sister (and her finger) are doing okay!

I legit had a heart attack when I read that (despite not living in New York). I HAVE PEOPLE COMING OVER TONIGHT IN FANCY DRESS, TV. DON'T DO THIS TO ME.

I am glad your sister is okay! But, ugh, she felt everything? She is one tough bird!

I'm so excited it is Oscar night. My husband and I are planning to settle in with pizza, alcohol, and the kitties and hope that stupid Avatar gets Oscar blocked all night.

It was made by a nice lj user called [livejournal.com profile] burpinator. You are welcome to take it if you want, just credit her. If you are full of love for Alistair, I would suggest you come over to the [livejournal.com profile] swooping_is_bad community. It is full of Alistair focused Dragon Age fic, fanart, and general squeeing over our favorite templar boyfriend.

I should have known there would have been Dragon Age communties but I never got the urge to look. I've been pretty MIA from the internet the past couple of months. Partly because of school work and partly becuase of Dragon Age. It's going to be awhile(or at least until summer) util I get Awakening. I still haven't finished doing everything in Origins.

The game has for serious owned my soul for the past couple of months. I went for two weeks without checking LJ, FB, or anything else. I had it on the 360 and beat it two times, got frustrated with some of the bugs, and am now playing it on my PC. The mods for this game are wonderful things. Yay for gamer ladies!

I got a mod that has different hair, eyes, and tattoo colors. I love it!

I've played though it 4 times(I boughthe guide book for the game. I'd be so lost without it) One a mage, Dalish elf rouge(being a rogue elf is not esay), and twice Cousland one was a warrior and as a rouge. Right now I'm on my 5th playthrough as a dwarf noble warrior.

Yeah........I have no life.

Yay for SisterGirl!

Do let her know that she's not alone with the glue possibility, though: shortly after the end of Dollhouse, Dichen Lachman (the actress who played Sierra) tweeted this (http://twitter.com/Dichenlachman/status/8430654697). The overwhelming suggestion she got for putting her finger back together? Super Glue.

For my dad (being of the HVAC occupation) the answer is always electric tape.

Once, a furnace had a mini...explosion...thing (?) near his face, resulting in minor burn wounds and a lack of eyebrows, and I'm sure his first reaction was to put electric tape on his face and call it a day.

At any rate, glad to hear your sister is okay. Good luck to you as well with the liveblogging.

It must be a HVAC thing, because my Dad, also of the HVAC occupation, ALWAYS taped EVERYTHING back together with the black electrical tape. It's like a running joke in my family.

While I enjoyed all your answers, this one stood out as an excellent awesome answer to a potentially awkward question:

Q: So why is it, exactly, that you're so full of awesome? :P

A: I'm really short, so a small amount of awesome filled me up pretty quickly.

There is something about finger stitching... I cut my finger a year or two ago and went to the ER. The doctor who sewed me up looked like The Todd from Scrubs and despite painfully injecting my finger to numb it, failed to get the digit numb at all. So I felt all seven stitches. It was a terrible experience. About an hour after I was home, my finger finally got numb.

(I won't even go into the allergic reaction I have to the tetanus shot they gave me or how the stitches, which I had been told were dissolvable, did not dissolve and I had to have my regular doctor slightly re-open the healed cut to get the stitches out of it)

Formspring will now let me go back ONE SCREEN's worth of questions (back to the marshmellow peeps/chick question) ONLY. So....partially better?

Also, I had to choose between Oscars and Alice today in regard to my schedule, and I chose Alice! Please cover the Oscars so I can catch up by Wednesday?!? (Mon-Tues. are Busy Days of Too Much for me).

With my expectations relatively medium, I found it quite good - with the exception of a 1-2 minute dance towards the end (which was not so much the dance as it was the god-awful music) which I feel is jarringly, horrifically WRONG for the movie....but aside from that, very good. Colleen Atwood fans will not be disappointed and Depp was - both himself and also different (loved the Scottish accent - unexpected).

Your formspring answers are fascinating - in a non weird way. I'm sure you wouldn't put anything online that you don't want to share with the internets.

I'm 90% sure I had the same illustrated Hobbit/LOTR book. The one with the same illustrations as the Peter Beagle penned cartoon? That is the book that gave me my life-long terror of Gollum. Like legitimate chills when I hear the words 'my precious'.

When I cut my finger (I nicked the bone, but didn't damage the tendon), I got a digital block. It didn't seem to help much, but I was so keyed up from fear of the hospital and "holy crap I sliced down to the bone of my index finger" that I figured that was normal.

The doctor came back after a few minutes and said, "I'm going to test the block now. Look away and tell me if you feel this." I buried my head in my now-husband's jacket and waited. About thirty seconds later I shrieked.

"Huh. I guess the block didn't take," said the doctor, obviously very surprised.

"Ow," said my fiance. (Not out of any sympathy with me... his ears were ringing from having me screech right next to his head!)

(He repeated the process and I was fine after that. I'm surprised they didn't do that for your sister.)

I may have saved your first 150 to my hard drive yesterday, though I'm at work so can't know for sure for a few hours...lemme know if Formspring is still effed up and you want me to dig around.

Is that weird? Sorry if that's weird. I keep copies of stuff I find funny and/or neat (for offline reading and this fear that EXACTLY THIS MAY HAPPEN AND THINGS WILL BE GOOOONE FOREVAAAAR) and your writing is frequently both, so... *spreads hands*
