Okay, you need to go back to the previous entry because Google is turning on Buzz whether you opted out or not and they're letting everyone see your most frequently-emailed contacts and it's a gigantic clusterfuck of privacy invasion and it's superstupidhard to get it to stop. MEANWHILE:

TONNER TORCHWOOD AND DOCTOR WHO DOLLS ARE FINALLY HERE

YES, THEY DO EXIST

SERIOUSLY, PEOPLE HAVE BEEN WAITING FOR THESE FOR AT LEAST A YEAR

MAYBE TWO, I CAN'T EVEN REMEMBER

AND CAN WE--sorry, can we discuss how bizarre the Tonner Jacob is? Still? Again? Some more? Because what the hell. AND ALSO

The Tonner Doctor Who dolls are awful. Martha looks like a Barbie doll, and Ten looks like . . . not Ten. Don't get me started on the awfulness of the pinstripes on his suit AND the ridiculous fact that you have to pay $50 extra if you want his trenchcoat. I wouldn't pay $25 for these dolls, much less ten times that.

My understanding is that Billie Piper doesn't want merchandise in her likeness--and given her days as a pop star and how weird people might have gotten about her, I can kind of imagine why--so Martha is the next companion in line.

I'd pout about the evident lack of a Tonner Ninth Doctor, except they really didn't do well by poor Ten at all.

Also, they gave Jack greasy emo hair, not unakin to that of dark!Peter in Spiderman 3. I always regarded Jack as too cheesy for words, but he doesn't deserve that hairdo. No opinion on the female dolls, as I haven't watched their characters yet.

OMG FINALLY.

Except...*sigh*. They seem to hold up my theory that Tonner in general does a much better job with female characters than with male.

But, still, yes, it has been at least a year since they announced these, and my Hermione doll has been waiting for Martha Jones to come be her partner in crime. That doll doesn't look a whole lot like Freema, but at least she isn't as skeery as Ten, and I'll be getting her.

Until I got a look at him.

Hey, Tonner? Who the heck did you use as a model for this? Did you see the show/reference pictures at all?! The pinstripes, having to pay more for just the trenchcoat, and the fact that his face? does not look like the Tenth Doctor we know and love... yeah, think I'll be saving my first Tonner purchase for when you have a decent Who doll out. =/

I love Tonner and Doctor Who, so I thought the two would be a delicious combination -- like chocolate and peanut butter. Unfortunately, I'm really not too happy with the production pictures seen here. The costumes are nice, but the sculpts...oy. You'd think that with all the time they have had to work on them, they'd look a bit more true to the actors. However, the dolls in person usually look much nicer than the production pics, so they could end up looking an awful lot better in person.

Oh yeah, and if you put the Tonner Edward in Ten's outfit he'd look an awful lot like Matt Smith as a Regeneration Version of Eleven. Just saying.
