Ooo, more at the official Lemony Snicket movie site. And--goodness me!--I do believe these new icons they're handing out are... Livejournal-sized.

Also: Brendan Fraser for Mr. Fantastic? Brideshead Remade--with Jude Law and Jennifer Connelly? (Really, I'm poaching tonight's news, but oh well.)

Brendan Fraser can act - he just doesn't seem to bother very often......

What about Julia Stiles for Sue Storm?

Neither pleasing or not. Looking at imdb, the only thing I've seen Stiles in is Bourne Identity and I don't remember her, just the hott Potente. And the cool Damon and Owen.

Brendan Fraser is SO not going to be able to pull off an older father figure type.

You, sir/ma'am, need to go rent both Mona Lisa Smile and 10 Thing I Hate About You. Excellent movies, the both of them, and both for different reasons.

Julia Stiles was in Save the Last Dance and O also. STLD was good, but the Shakespeare fanatic in me had issues with O.

Brendan Frasier is Mr. Fantastic? Does that count as an oxymoron?

Brideshead Revisited Again

I am just so annoyed that Jim Carrey is in it. I want to see it, but I despise him and I have hated every movie of his that I have attempted to watch.

Needless to say, there is much disappointment...

But the icons are cool.

Did you see Eternal Sunshine? Because that was a wonderful movie.

Not yet - waiting for cable. I just can't stand him so much that I hate watching him on screen and I sit there and cringe. I love Kate Winslet - maybe I can somehow ignore him and focus on the story?

Carrey himself is actually fantastic in the role if you put aside personal bias. I saw it a second time with my Aunt who is/was a big fan of In Living Color, and she was stunned at how well he worked in a serious role.

I know it seems rather closed-minded of me to dismiss him so, but I have seen a few of his movies hoping to change my mind. I have heard so many good things about "Spotless Mind", that I intend to see it - just not too hopeful anymore.

I can only find four of them!

I can't find the one you have in the middle. :(

I think that one's one of the two new ones. Make sure you go through and click "Awful Image Gallery," "Sign up for the Daily Punctilio," or whatever the newsletter's called, and the scrap of paper that says "Is this an official site?" I think it's on one of those. You also get a wallpaper with each one, but I'd already ferreted all five out the last time they updated, and I have links to them somewhere if you want them. :)

Hmm...I read the first Lemony Snicket book recently. Very odd and sort of disturbing (which are pluses for me). I could easily see Edward Gorey illustrating the series. The whole incestuous child-bride thing creeped me out, but didn't put me off it. I don't think I'd spend money to read more of them, but I'd read pick one up if it was lying around the house. Of course, it took me AGES to get into Harry Potter (I saw the first movie and said "Dammit...now I have to finally read those goddamn books!") so I'm sure after this movie comes out, I'll be hooked on them. *sigh*

Paul Bettany starring in Brideshead Revisited! W00T!!

I will say, the first one's kind of blah compared to the rest--most first books in a series are, because you have to set up everything. The next two are great, and things really start to kick into gear about book...5? I think? Anyway. The one where Esme shows up is *awesome.* I got mine at a clearance sale for $9 per box of three ($27 total), and felt like a highway robber--one of the best investments I ever made. ;)

No. Way.

I can't believe they're making a Lemony Snicket movie! Bless you, Beautiful Stranger, for bringing it to my attention! Now I'll be on pins and needles until December. ;-)
