... because I am cheerfully at work footnoting. Although not so much today, because we had thunderstorms and I didn't want to lose the last computer we've got to more electrical foolery.

So... how were all those conventions this weekend? PAX and Dragon*Con and NADWCON? Failing that, what'd you do for Labor Day? I, uh... labored. Such labor as it is.

Dragon*Con's registration was awful, but the con itself was amazing. Best time I've ever had at a con.

I enjoyed PAX from the position of a casualcore gamer. Then again, I'm a Nintendo fangirl, so pretty much if it was Nintendo I was on it. I saw a few games that were really awesome, and a lot of boring ones.

I have a two week old, and thus was unable to attend dragon*con, especially alas because I was on D*con tv this year. I did get my gargoyles dvd autographed though, so it's not a total loss.

Me too. Although Saturday night did see the brief return of a dear friend I haven't seen in years, so there was that.

Most of Dragon*Con went great for me, with the exception of the shoddy organization for the Sunday Patrick Stewart panel. I ended up crying in the bathroom and having a nice custodian giving me a box of tissues.

Someone in the D*C LJ comm is trying to convince me that because we pay less for D*C than other cons, we should expect less. We don't pay for an experience, we only pay for the guests and a venue to see them. You get what you paid for, and since you don't technically pay for volunteers, you shouldn't expect anything from them. Of course, this person doesn't actually mean it that way. ::rolls eyes::

And knowing the nature of the internets, they probably watch you and I've gotten myself in trouble by saying something here, but whatever.

Anyways. Sunday was sort of ruined, but the rest of it was awesome.

I was off of the internet for 4 whole days (honestly, I don't know how I survived). I read about the M15M ideas last night, and I'm really excited about what you've got planned.

Other than that, I went to Ohio to visit my parents, saw the newly renovated library at OSU (gorgeous, amazing, I could live there), and discovered that I am ridiculously good at bocce ball.

Worked merch for Paul & Storm (http://www.paulandstorm.com) at PAX and had an absolute blast... until I woke up Monday with a cough and sniffles and the news that there was at least one confirmed case of Swine Flu from the con. *headdesk*

DCon was freaking incredible. Felicia Day is JUST LIKE you'd imagine she would be, and Patrick Stewart was GREAT GREAT GREAT, and the NC17 fanfic panel went over time by like two hours before we left, and a bunch of us totally fangirled when you came up.

You should come to it next year.

Dragon*con was awesome, though there were some definite organizational issues. Seeing Nimoy and Shatner's old married couple shtick was top of the list, with listening to Space Ghost while utterly drunk coming a close second.

I did Labor Day baking, although I didn't actually bake on Labor Day (but I did on Sunday and today!). Chocolate-chip cookies and blueberry pie, mmm. Although the pie was sort of a consolation prize, because I gave all the cookies away.

D*Con was lovely but the lines were atrocious. That's to be expected for the superhugestars they had. I ended up enjoying the smaller, less crowded panels much more than some I had been waiting for weeks for. That said, both Patrick Stewart panels were wonderful, the man is charming and gracious, and he knows how to ignore crazies, which I appreciate.

Too poor and homeworked-to-death for D-Con this year :(.

The San Francisco Chronicle had the following item at the end of it's review (written by Peter Hartlaub - whoever he is) of the movie "9", which comes out this weekend:

"This film contains violence, end-of-the-world themes and the voice of Crispin Glover, which is just as creepy when not attached to the actual actor."

PS Internets hates me - I may hae posted this twice. And my "v" key on the keyboard had decided that working intermittently is good enough...which makes pasting PAINFUL! Apologies...

PAX was fantastic! The concerts were great, and the exhibitor's hall was huuuuge! Lots of great games there, and hardly any lines - the whole con was extremely well organized. And I got my arm signed by Freezepop! ♥

I camped in Ohio for two days with some friends I won't get to see all winter.

I also went to the beach. And enjoyed an extra day off today.

Pretty much a lazy Labor weekend for a change. It was nice and sunny. :)

This. There were lots of interesting and very nice people, and overall it was nicely low-key and fun.

One of my friends was wandering around as Ptraci (http://www.flickr.com/photos/artos/3895914262/in/pool-845226@N20) and had even more of a blast than I, it seems.

I didn't actually get to go to DCon because I'm broke and I forgot when it was, but my mom and I went to the parade and had a blast.

And here are a few note-worthy pictures:

There were two women dressed as Rosalie and Alice in the parade too, but I didn't take a picture of them because I was too busy helping my mom try to get them to throw a ring to the little girl that was standing in front of us.

I work retail, but I got Labor Day off anyway - luck of the draw, I guess, I kept forgetting Labor Day even existed. I spent a lot of the day outside, since the weather was so beautiful. I'm "next door" to you in Georgia, have you been having this nice weather too (excluding the thunderstorms)? I played with the dog and read the Red Dwarf novel on the back deck. In the evening my family watched Futurama and then made s'mores on the grill. Low-key, but fun times.

This was my and my boyfriend's fifth PAX, and we managed to pull together a group of 10 others to come with us, making this the biggest posse ever for us. The highlight may have been Friday night, when Mike Krahulik (aka Gabe of Penny Arcade) sat down and joined us for a game of Dominion for 45 mins. or so (managing to learn my boyfriend's name by cursing him multiple times). The Rock Band Network panel with Jonathon Coulton also kicked ass.

Downside: so far, about eight of us are displaying flu-like symptoms, and there are confirmed cases of swine flu from the con. But my work's making me come in anyway. JOY.

D*C was awesome, but I heard the registration lines were horrid. Me, I had to work so I fly the red-eye in on Saturday morning and my splendiforous friends had picked up my badge for me.

Kate Mulgrew (who I watched on D*CTV) was magnificent. The BSG panel was great and Mary McDonnell owns my soul. I also got a SIGNED!PERSONAL! picture by/with her as a bday present from my magnificent friends.

I also got to see Diana Gabaldon - have you read her Outlander series? She was most gracious.

AND! I danced - with approx. 2000 *other* people - in a Guiness World Record attempt for The Most People In One Place Dancing Thriller. I will post a youtube link when it goes up. It was amazing (and exhausting, as I taught the dance for 3 1/2 hours before the performance)

I spent my Labor Day sleeping. It was quite fun, plus I emailed my 'rents who had gone off for the weekend. I thought it was PA, was really Virginia for a relative's 90th birthday, and some of the others who had gathered asked about me. Probably wondering why I wasn't there or something. Eh, I'm not freaking out about that. Time to put in another movie.
