Not better. Not dying, but not better. Nor is my internet, because I couldn't bring myself to call Charter--half afraid I'd have to hang up and flee mid-call. Mostly just trying to hydrate at this point. Really, really want a Coke for some reason. There is no Coke. Woe.

(I love how everyone's blaming the sparkle candy. Worst endorsement ever.)

(I fully expect all hell to break loose somewhere--some news story, some message board drama, some Fandom Wank entry, something--just because I'm not around to see it. Like the time a girl in my class totally fainted during an oral book report, just keeled right over onto the floor before anyone could catch her, the one day I missed that semester. Everybody stay cool until I get back! Don't let your knees lock up, this is key!)

ETA: By the way, I was rec'd yet another fake Michael Sheen on Twitter (why are there so many?), as linked the other day. This one seems to be the real one. (It's Neil-approved!) The next one to be proven fake may face terrible, barfy consequences.

Well really, can you blame us? Sparkles, unlike sprinkles, should not be ingested.

Don't let your knees lock up, this is key!

Indeed. Feel better soon.

Am sending feel better thoughts to you. I hope it wasn't the Sparkle candy, who knows what kind of antidote would be needed for that?? I somehow think Large Edward is behind this...

Anyway, sorry you have no Coke. Personally I have found that the best cure for oogyness is GingerAle with vanilla ice cream. But if you don't have Coke, you probably don't have that either, do you?

there is something about craving Coke when ill - OTC anti-nausea medication is often some kind of sugar syrup, similar to coke (before carbonation, of course). is there no one home to fetch you coke?

I always want coke if I'm sick, it always makes me *feel* like I'm going to get better although I don't if it has any actual medical benefits.

Cleo, I'm confused. The Michael Sheen twitter (michaelsheen) you put here on the blog, the one posting New Moon news and stuff is the real one or is it michaelsheen1?

Because both of them complained about impostors, and frankly, michaelsheen feels more like the real thing... I really don't get it anymore.

The one I linked earlier is fake; the latter is real (he posted pictures of himself. "I'm at whatever event; here is a picture of me I just took at whatever event"). And Neil Gaiman thinks or knows he's real.

Man, I would have killed to have seen that fainting girl. Nice current mood, by the way.

I usually drink Sprite when I'm feeling nauseated. In fact, that's pretty much the only time I drink Sprite, so it's got a pretty strong association.

We'll try to hold down the fort.

Yeah, it's not exactly like he's a matinée idol. But maybe that's what makes people think it will be easier to get away with impersonating him?

I'm with the rest of your loyal readers in wishing you a speedy recovery from whatever is ailing you.

As for not wanting to contact Charter, I can sympathize. They're my service provider as well and dealing with them can be very frustrating. It doesn't help that the company is in bankruptcy (http://www.argus-press.com/articles/2009/04/05/news/news6.txt), even though the company promises that it won't affect service.

I fainted in physics! No one caught me. I just kind of fell off the stool and woke up about twenty seconds later with everyone starting and giggling. ...not my finest moment. I repeated it in film studies a few years later. Apparently my default response to a stomach bug is passing out.

When I was a kid growing up around Dothan in the 80s, my great-grandma always kept a half-dozen of those little glass-bottled Cokes in the crisper drawer of her fridge. They were ONLY to be used in case of illness. I don't know how much of their healing power was real, and how much came from the mystique of there being "DO NOT TOUCH" Cokes, but they WORKED. If I was ill at Granny's, I always took comfort in the fact that I would get a "little Coke" of my very own. :) So maybe there *is* a healing factor to Coke. Or maybe it's just an Alabama thing. XD Hopefully you can get your own "little Coke"!

Dream Park (a novel by Larry Niven and Steven Barnes) has, among other things, a tribe which considers Coca Cola a magical elixir. I would not be at all surprised if the real cargo cults did the same.

I always drank Coke when I was sick to my stomach when I was little. Sweet things and carbonated beerages are good for that sort of thing, I think. Anyway, it's what my Mum always gave me.

Glad to see you're still alive--even though you may not feel like you are.

And I am GLUED to the Battle of the Sheens. Even after the real Sheen had posted photo evidence, the imposter still declared the real Sheen was, in fact, the real impostor! (This is making me dizzy.) So, so funny.

On that note, I came across a news story about RPattz that might be of interest if you haven't already seen it. Its here (http://uk.news.yahoo.com/1/20090424/ten-pattinson-fame-s-made-me-a-paranoid-c60bd6d.html) at Yahoo. Possibly linkspam-worthy?

Somehow procure a Coke. Open it up and let it sit and go flat. It depends on how your stomach is doing as to whether you want to put ice in it - my usual choice - but occasionally the different between the iced flat Coke and your body will do bad things to your stomach. Warm flat soda though - not fabulous....take care.
