Hmmmmm. The overall look of the film from those 3 scenes looks good. The bending might turn out to look good live action. Dev is beginning to look more convincing as Zuko but that remains to be seen. (Although I have no doubt he is WORLDS better than the blond apple pie kid they had originally.)

So, no sinking pit of despair yet, but I still can't quite bring myself to cautious optimism. Need more information. Honestly, right now I'm more worried that Appa will either look like the Never Ending Story or like a bunch of flying pixels. (All this race debate -- WON'T SOMEONE THINK OF THE AIR BISON?)

I thought the casting was failtastic, so I wasn't going to see it anyway, but even if I knew nothing about Avatar: what a boring trailer!

No world: no cities, villages, mountains, and buildings to draw the eye. No people: no villains, supporting characters, or background villagers to give an idea of what this place is about and why you should be invested in it. No action, just a kid in a robe messing around in the Room of a Billion Candles that must have taken for-frickin'-ever to light.

This is what happens when you piss off your fanbase and tell them the painstakingly crafted world they've spent years enjoying is going to be set aside for a generic fantasyland with as few Asian touches as they can get away with. Boring trailers that don't leave room for controversy.

I have to admit I am excited for this film -- as angry about the casting as I still am. I will say, however, I think the teaser trailer in no way will bring in viewers who are not already Avatar fans. The trailer itself is vague and rather boring -- I found myself wondering if the kid doing martial arts in a cloak was some kind of alien for a moment rather than the storyline that I know so well and love.
I hope that the films do the series justice, at least.

Yeah... I don't think the film will draw any new fans, and they've managed to piss off at least half the fanbase into boycotting the movie, so... I'm not too hopeful that this will do well.

I'm definitely not going. The visuals look decent but right away I was wondering why Aang was in that weird-ass cloak and why he apparently sucks at airbending enough that he can only blow out a few candles at a time, instead of doing a sweeping wave of air that took out all of them.

I am probably one of the few fans who doesn't care at all about the casting of this movie. I think they've done a great job so far, and really, I have no complaints as of now. Who knows, the whole thing might be a disappointment, but I'm liking what I've seen so far. Just wish there had been a little more to the trailer, but it's a teaser and the movie is a year away. I'm happy with what we got.

You know, the parts we SAW don't look terrible, although Aang in the series never had to do, like, 100 moves in sequence before he could airbend, and that part makes it way more slooow, ugh. But even that aside, this has to be one of the most BORING trailers I've ever seen. It's like the most vague voiceover narration ever and 2 scenes!

At least he has his arrow.

LOL, I don't think that was all meant to necessitate the candle-outing. He seemed to just be doing some warm-up moves/practice with the staff in general, with a bit of airbending tossed in for flourish.

I have to say I'm impressed with the kid's mad skillz, whatever else the movie may be. He's very nimble.

The airbending CGI looks very cool; I'll give them that. But Aang's arrow looks ludicrous, and the trailer itself isn't very good. It doesn't give any idea of what's going on and isn't cool enough to tease people who have never heard of the franchise.

The racefail remains racefaily. At least Ringer and Patel have some martial arts background - I really hope they can keep the different fighting styles of the four nations, because that was a really nice detail in the show.

And dammit, I keep vowing not to pay attention anymore but I totally can't resist. :P

Did anyone else get the impression that the hood was gonna fall back and it would turn out to be Jack Black going, "Hey, how ya doin' guys?" and then he'd fall on his ass or something slapsticky? Because it totally looked like one of those fake-serious trailer openings to me that turns out to be featuring a comedy. Can't trust that serious-voiced announcer any longer.

Sadly enough, Nickelodeon even failed at the action figures for the original show. D: They came out with about half a dozen different versions of the three main guys and a bunch of minor characters, but did not update any action figures for the second or third seasons, and consistently failed to make action figures of ANY of the female cast (of which there are at least six main characters). Then they stopped making action figures due to poor sales.

I can only imagine they would screw up any attempt at dolls as well.

Aang's actor moves very well, looks pretty awesome (even if his arrow's not blue, but that probably would have looked like ass in live action anyway), and they seem to grok the bending thing pretty well. (Side note: guys, he's not failing to blow the candles out all at once. It's a martial arts/meditative/control thing. You don't blow your whole wad the first punch, gosh.)

Air Temple looks right.
