I'm surprised, I expected worse. Dev Patel looks good so far and that Noah Ringer kid isn't too bad at all, in my opinion.

Definitely need better pictures though. You can't see Zuko's scar because the part of his face its on is turned almost completely away from us :(

Actually, I'm pretty sure there's no scar in that picture at all. For one thing, he has two eyebrows. Which unless they made the huge disfiguring scar inexplicably smaller... or if this is just a costume test... means We Have Some Serious Problems.

Your icon basically captures how I feel just on principle, because I feel weirdly attached to Night (he films in my hood; my cousins have worked on his films; I'm a freak and think I know famous people that I don't--pick one) and I'm always so sad when his movies get dissed. I swear his problem is dialogue. He has great ideas and artistic style; if he'd just let someone else write the dialogue it would be just perfect. But no. *sigh*

I'd argue that he constructs interesting fantasy/sci-fi mysteries that hinge on some core premise or revelation, and that lately he hasn't asked himself vigorously enough if the core revelation is trite or illogical or laughable.

I loved Unbreakable and thought Sixth Sense was very well crafted, but Signs, The Village, and the Happening really needed another round of basic worldbuilding logic. Also, Hitchcockian cameos are fine, but he really shouldn't insert himself into a film as anything like a real character.

I don't care if neither of them match the way the nations look in the original series, I LOVE how Aang and Zuko turned out. They both look very good. (I guess I shouldn't have expected a long-ass pony tail on a bald head from Patel... I imagine that's hard to do with wigs.)

First picture EVER of Noah, right? The costume is beautiful. The air temple looks stellar. I approve of the kid.

Now I just need to see Sokka and Katara. I'm more guarded about how they'll be, especially the girl playing Katara.

& thank GOD Patel has seen the source material, and before his casting even. Such a blessing since McCartney. Such a blessing.

This is actually better than I was expecting. I like that the arrow and scar have been translated more realistically - an opaque light blue arrow would look ridiculous in live action for any extended length of time, and there's no saying it won't still be involved in the avatar state.

Plus these are very early promo pictures. It's the first picture of Noah EVER (I didn't even know he routinely shaved his head until now). The make-up will more than likely improve.
