Saw Star Trek last night. It was v. good. I didn't have a cinematic orgasm or anything (which I had kind of been led to believe would be the case, actually), but it was good, and I'd go see it again. For some reason, Bones was totally my favorite.

(Am genuinely considering getting the Barbie Uhura now. Wouldn't get the Kirk and Spock Kens, though.)

Wrote a good bit this weekend; managed to save over the newest installment of Secret Life, so that kinda sucks. (Mostly this is bad because we are falling wayyyy behind and a lot of things are going to happen soon.) Sister Girl came over and made Crepes Suzette for Mom for brunch, and then we had barbecue for the family lunch while Sister Girl was at work, and then I slept for three hours because I was painfully tired for some reason. And then I got up and wrote a little more, but in a very slow, meandering kind of way. Might go to bed early just in hopes of feeling more energetic tomorrow, I don't know.

I've been meaning to watch TOS for ages and this movie just put it at the top of my list of "Must Watch Television Series" now.

Bones was my favorite as well. Followed closely by Chekov who was totally adorable and wee. ^_^

I watched TOS last Christmas and it was A. Mazing. Good on you.

Chekov wins the Most Precious Ever award.

Aside from the obligatory Zachary Quinto love, I totally see the Bones love.

Chekov was always kind of the Wesley Crusher of the original series, but yeah.

Bones pretty much made my life complete, he was so awesome. Who knew Karl Urban was so good at snarky humor?

Meanwhile, I was not expecting George Kirk to be so ridiculously hot or awesome.

I loved that he was doing a really good old-school Bones impression, but not so broadly that it actually came off as an impression.

My unexpected You Are Awesome was for Captain Pike, honestly.

I just got back from seeing Star Trek and I'm still riding my nerdgasm high. Although I do have some lingering questions (especially as an Alias fan). I think Scotty was my favorite. What can I say, I'm a sucker for Scottish accents.

So as a fellow Alias fan, I'm guessing you also had a wave of nostalgia at the giant ball of evil red goo?

I loved Scotty and Bones, but unexpectedly also Sulu. What can I say, I'm a sucker for ass-kicking sword fights.

I have been a fan of Karl Urban ever since he was involved in the first (that I know of) gay relationship portrayed on primetime New Zealand television. This was back in the mid-90s, maybe. He played a hunky ambulance officer in NZ's main soap opera, and it was kind of a big deal.

I was never a big Zachary Quinto fan til now, I totally loved his Spock. Granted, no, I never watched much Star Trek. But aside from him being a bamf, I was totally into Bones, Chekov and Scotty.

People actually applauded when he said "I'm a doctor, not a physicist!"

Count me in as one of those who actually *squeaked* for joy. Those "I'm a doctor, not a...!" disclaimers are one of the most endearing things about Bones.

Heh, the moment Karl Urban came on screen, I morphed from good little movie viewer to fangirl in hyperdrive. Luckily, I was surrounded by like-minded people!

Bones was my favorite, too, followed closely by Scotty. Followed closely by the rest of the entire damn cast. Really, the casting was phenomenal for this film. I'm not a prior ST fan - barely knew a damn thing about it - but the more I heard about the cast the more excited I became for this film. And, boy, I wasn't disappointed. Just stellar.

And it was nice to see Karl Urban in a comedic role. A nice change of pace for him from his past several projects. I hope he can find more humorous roles; he plays it very well.

I took my Mom and Grandma to see Star Trek today for Mother's day. I really really loved it. And my grandma was so funny during it! It is totally not her kind of movie- she can't stand Star Wars or any sci-fi movie, but she said she liked this one, though there was some strange stuff going on.

Everyone in the movie was easy on the eyes, but my largest puddle of drool was for the doc.

What was up with the GI Joe Trailer? I could not figure out what was going on, perhaps because I was having a mild seizure from the rapid sequence changes. Did anyone even realize what the trailer was for until "G.I. JOE" flashed across the screen? I am baffled.

I thought it was for a movie based on a video game! It had that feel, what with jumping around different technology eras, and the suit totally looked like like a power-up scene.

Random Real Life Connection: my stepmom and many of her friends are Russian. There's a dude whose name I can never remember, the youngest out of a group of four guys who travel the world boldly going where no accordion players have gone before. He's also got the shaggiest hair. Naturally, my brother and I have forever dubbed him Chekov.

The only other Star Trek movie I've seen was IV (and only because I was told there would be whales in it!) so maybe I'm missing out on decades of superb villains. But I think Nero was a solid nemesis, and that Eric Bana (barely recognizable!) brought a lot to the role.

I was always a Star Wars kid, but I grew up watching Star Trek, even though I didn't know what the hell was going on. I agreed when I read JJ Abrams in Maxium that it was mostly talk and no action.

But the movie completely blew my mind away. I loved how Spock and Kirk did not agree throughout most of the movie until later.

And I do have to give Quinto an applause for delivering his one "Live long and prosper" line in the tone of "You can all go directly to hell, bitches."
