Don't think I'm going to update tonight--Sunday's going to be a big bloggy day, although I might put up a linkspam tomorrow. Spent the day sneezing and feeling chilly, so I'm just going to rest.

So... um... what are your Oscar predictions?

That is all.

Slumdog Millionaire will win, and Robert Pattinson's presentation will be my favorite part of the entire night. And The Duchess costumes.

Heck yes. He's been in America the past couple of days. He's supposed to rehearse tomorrow. I'm so very ready for his adorable awkwardness.

I'm not big on award shows *don't hit me* but feel better! My father came home from work all sneezy and bleary eyed. I gave him a dose of vitamin c and made him tomato soup. Now he's passed out on the couch and I am praying I don't get a cold also.

Sean Penn for best actor.

Date: 2009-02-21 12:23 am (UTC)
From: [identity profile] apocalypsos.livejournal.com
Slumdog, Kate Winslet, Mickey Rourke, Heath Ledger, Amy Adams, Danny Boyle, Wall-E, Man On Wire, and that the music of Slumdog will sweep but that I will be thoroughly disappointed in the musical performances.

EDIT: Oh, and that if Mickey Rourke wins, goes up to accept, and thanks his poor dog who passed away this week, I will bawl like an infant.

My only prediction is that I will cry if Wall-E doesn't win anything. Then again, I'll cry even if it does win anything. And I'll cry even more if Waltz with Bashir gets Best Foreign Film. I don't see it getting the award, but if it does...

I predict that Hugh Jackman will be funny, charming, and hot as always. There will be awesome musical numbers (hopefully), and a really really sad "in memoriam" this year.

I predict that Best Supporting Actor will be all about Heath no matter what. IE, if he gets it, lots of celebration on his behalf, and tears. If he does not, lots of bitching that he should have, which will overshadow whoever does win.

...which will overshadow whoever does win.

Yeah, every time I saw an interview with one of the TDK actors, I felt bad for them for that very reason. They'd not only just lost a friend and coworker in a very tragic way - but also, everyone kept asking them in every single interview about it. Heath's performance, Heath's death, Heath on the set, Heath's family, etc, etc... I mean, I get it, but still, that had to have sucked on a professional level. The Joker was not the only kickass performance in that film.

Which is why they WILL give him the award.

God, I wish he didn't die.

I think Slumdog Millionaire is going to win everything.

Even the categories it's not nominated for.

It'll be epic.

I couldn't pop out Oscar predictions (beside The Obvious) if my life depended on it, but I wanted to send you my best wishes for a prompt and complete recovery -- might you be feeling strong and chirpy and sneeze-free again very soon. ;)

Get well, Cleo. :)

My predictions are very, er, predictable. Slumdog Millionaire for BP and BD; Mickey Rourke for BActor (Langella as a possible upset, because he's a great actor with no Oscars, whereas Penn already has one--the Academy loves that); Kate for BActress (seriously, the wank would be epic); Heath for BSActor (that particular wank would last till next year); Penelope for BSActress (some people think she was robbed for Volver, so it's a worthy win and a make-up win all rolled into one); Wall-e and The Class for whatever they're up for. Possibly Waltz with Bashir?

Am very sad that I won't be able to watch the ceremony OR liveread the loveblogging this year. AND I'll miss the prety dresses. Woe.

Robert Pattinson will present an award; look simultaneously hot and awkward while doing so.

Hugh Jackman will be incredibly hot, but his routines will be cheesy as hell.

Freida Pinto and Dev Patel will be adorable.

(If Viola Davis or Penelope Cruz win, I will scream.)

This isn't so much a prediction as a hope against hope: that someone will read "An Honest Acceptance Speech" from McSweeney's verbatim.

Feel better!

apparently a list of the winners has been leaked. well theres a list out anyway, it's probably fake. funny though

Date: 2009-02-21 03:08 am (UTC)
From: [identity profile] enid-keaner.livejournal.com
It's more than likely fake. Only the guys from Pricewaterhouse Coopers know, and they have the briefcases like handcuffed to then on the carpet. It'd be a pretty big deal if one of them leaked it and legal issues would run amok. And the Academy have already said it's faked. However, the list is probably accurate, which, to be honest means little, as this is one of the least exciting Oscars in years.

My only prediction is that the Trouble with Jerry (http://thetroublewithjerry.com/) protests won't get much time or attention given to them.

The protest has been organised against giving Jerry Lewis an humanitarian award in light of his bigotry (http://thetroublewithjerry.net/jerrys-defamatory-remarks) towards people with disabilities (http://thetroublewithjerry.net/jerrys-defamatory-remarks/jerry-quotes), LGBT folks (http://thetroublewithjerry.net/jerrys-defamatory-remarks/jerry-lgbt-quotes), and women (http://thetroublewithjerry.net/jerrys-defamatory-remarks/defamatory-remarks-about-women).

*sigh*

I predict Trouble the Water will win for best doc, and deservedly so. But I loved Man On Wire So. Much. I was sobbing at the climax, when Petit finally steps out on the wire. I was just a kid in NYC when the walk happened and the movie brought back so many memories. I was also in NYC on 9/11 and it was wonderful to remember the towers in a happy way.

Hugh Jackman's Broadway charms will fail to appeal the nation on the whole, but will work my panties off in about 47 seconds. Rpattz will be stooooned, but his hair will be surprisingly groomed. Kate Winslett will win everything Slumdog Millionare doesn't.

None of that matters to me, though. I'm watching in hopes there will be some sort of glorious shenanigans (fainting! security breaches! flashing boobies! Twilight moms doing all of the above!) on live national television.

I predict that Slumdog Millionaire will win everything. I also predict that if it doesn't win everything, I will throw an absolute, bona fide temper tantrum.

Slumdog Millionare, best picture.

Are you into Dollhouse, Whedon's new thing? The first ep was "meh", but the second one has me happy. Lots of pretty people and blood splatter. (It's on Hulu.)

Date: 2009-02-21 03:22 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] isca.livejournal.com
I predict that it will be boring as dirt.

From: [identity profile] sushixpack.livejournal.com
I predict that Slumdog will pretty much win everything, and that Kate Winslet will be stunning. I actually don't like predicting things. For me, it's much more enjoyable to just watch it.

Robert better be awkward and hilarious.

Also, I really hope you feel better. It's probably going to be harder live-blogging when you're all sneezy and bleh. But if anyone can do it, you can.

I love award shows O_O

Oscar

From: [identity profile] suzeclues12.livejournal.com
Health-stuff - force liquids (of your choice) and vitamin C!

Oscars - I read in "The USA Today" they have retooled the awards show to have "a plot" and an "over-arching theme." My predicted result? Either "meh" or huge Fail (I still haven't recovered from the year Rob Lowe danced with Snow White - the horror, the horror).

The actual award results? The usual: one upset, the rest as everyone's predicting.

Lastly: I can't year the word "Oscar" without thinking of the stupid Oscar perfume commercial, which consisted of a model rolling around and giggling and saying "Oscar" over and over again.

Why do I remember this kind of thing, but can't find my keys or hold on to anything related to math?

Date: 2009-02-21 10:33 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] maramala.livejournal.com
Hope you get better soon.

And I'll be surprised of Slumdog Millionaire won't win an award it wasn't nominated for.
