First off, I just wanted to say that I'm so glad everyone is enjoying the Fifteen Minute Movies, and that I read each comment as soon as it hits my email. I just can't reply to them all, though--I think we're up to something like 150 now. So just because I didn't say anything, that doesn't mean I didn't read it and appreciate it and laugh when you were funny. And the comments are still pouring in, actually, which is sort of terrifying--the previous Occupation: Girl record for comments was 43, over on the entry about my dream about Elijah Wood being the father of my thumb-sized baby. (Don't ask.)

And welcome to all the new folks on the f-list! I want to assure you that if you hang around and read my journal a bit more and go, "Oh, shit, she's really not funny like that all the time," I won't be offended if you defriend me. I don't view friends lists as anything necessarily personal, so... rock.

My project for today is to update the Digest, because it's about damn time, and people have mentioned that they might head over there. There is a fearsome backlog of movie news, so I'm basically going to be holed up today with a caffeine drip until I get it done.

If you are looking for more funny, might I suggest Cleoism, a recent grammar rant, or the Bennet-Jones Correspondence? At least, people seem to think these are funny. I just work here.

Icons: I've really enjoyed doing the Heroine Addict meme, but... my Photobucket account is dead until the 16th. And I'm not transferring 100+ icons to another account when it'll be back in four days. So... yeah. Come back for that. However, there are new Vanity Fair pics out today, and they are awesome, and I luff them, and I made a new icon (see: icon on this entry).

As for the Movies in Fifteen Minutes--I just really had a lot of fun writing the two so far. I'd be game to do another. My only two requirements at this point are that 1) it's a movie I've seen and 2) I have it on the premises, or, failing that, there's a write-up on The Movie Spoiler I can use as a refresher.

I am seriously considering doing The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen next. Failing that, I may be able to dig up my taped-off-cable Eye of the Beholder. Be afraid.

You know, I already liked what I read of your journal. Why did you have to link to those passages? I work at a distributors – slightly dense though many of my colleagues are, even they know that the BDM call file brief is not actually funny. Depressingly ill-written, yes. Even faintly amusing, no. I’m not meant to be laughing out loud. I’m going to have to properly work for the rest of the afternoon now, although that may raise more suspicions than it suppresses. Fave: “Thou shalt not find "feminist" to be a dirty word, or thy Cleo shall SMITE THEE, YEA VERILY”. Forever and ever amen.

Awww, I'm sorry. I'm glad you liked the rest of the journal, though. I think I've just gotten anxious because--you know, you sit around wishing people would read your journal, and then one day you wake up and it's like, "Oh no! People are actually reading my journal and now they won't like it! *runs around in circles*"

Uh... I'm going to go work on something... now. *twitch*

After stalking watching you work the boards over at JF, I was drawn to investigate your journal. Wherein I found Van Helsing humor, and it was good. And all my friends liked it. And now you've made us criminals, 'cause we have to download that movie off the internet as we now *have* to see it, but all refuse to pay $9 for the priviledge. Where was I? Oh yeah. So then I discovered that you make icons and are from Birmingham, and realized that fate commanded me to friend you. (Tuscaloosa pride, yo.)

So, er...hi!

Tuscaloosa! I'm actually looking into applying to the UA PhD program. I've got about a year left on my thesis work, but it would definitely be nice to know at least a few people down there. :)

If you download the movie, will you burn a copy and send it to me?

Actually, I think the League of Extraordinary Gentlemen might be right up your alley. I enjoyed it, but it was a case of 'enjoy it for what it is, because it definitely won't be what you think it should be'.

Not having seen Van Helsing as of yet, I now have the problem that I might not be able to, as it won't live up to the entertainment value I got last night.

And I'm glad to have you aboard, too. Me casa Mary Sue casa.

L o L,
smiling warmly

Oh, I saw LXG on DVD over Christmas. I love the comics, so it pissed me off righteously. I think if I watched it again, I'd be able to enjoy its badness, though. It's so wonderfully nonsensical, particularly the way the Venice set is handled.

Yeah, it suddenly turns into a Big Hollywood Effects Extravaganza, with no interest in maintaining the Victorian pulp fiction atmosphere of the rest of the movie.

And yes, I am a fan of Alan Moore's work, so I have cow-sized issues with the movie, but I too saw it over the holidays, and found it charmingly wrong, for the most part. Perhaps it was the company. Or the alcohol. I seem to recall there was a party involved. New Years Eve. Ah yes. It's coming back, now.

*runs and hides*

[small voice under table]: But it's ripe for lampooning.

L o L,
thinks Mina was horribly abused in the film

So what you're saying is, Top Gun is SOL.

No, that's fine. I'm fine. I'll be fine. I'm good. [sniff]

Okay, all done with the histrionics. Umm, lessee.... suggestions, suggestions.... OOO! Highlander?

I haven't seen that one, either. Don't hurt me, I want to live.

However, this does not mean that I could not *locate* Top Gun, etc. (Damn, I'm sure someone I know has it on hand.) I'm just saying that it won't be the next one I do. :)

I checked MovieSpoiler before I suggested it. They have Highlander. I haven't seen it either, so I can't even help. And Hidalgo is also a contender.

I'm never going to make a suggestion you can do, am I? [sniff] [SOB]

Aww! I've seen Hidalgo! I've seen Hidalgo! *pat*

EEE! But I know you have other movies you want to do first, and I can wait patiently for my name to get picked out of the hat.

Really I can.

No. Seriously.

Okay, shuddup. :-D

As a new reader, I expect nothing less than 100% pure entertainment at all times, or I will drop you like a sack of dirt.

Seriously, write what you want. Its your journal, screw everybody else.

A friend of a friend linked to your Van Helsing in 15 minutes and it made me happy. Sadly, the person I saw it with *really* liked it and I had to hit them with a stick.
So yes, I've friended you and but I don't see myself as being disappointed if you're not funny all the time - I mean I can hardly hold everyone to my high standards. *snort*

Not every post has to be a Fifteen Minute Movie for me... so far, I really dig your journal itself and everything I've read from you thus far.

Courtney Love icon... you're in my good graces already. I dunno... I like her voice and she's still oddly attractive to me still.

LXG... *shivers* Now that was a horrid movie. But it still wasn't bad enough to make my top 10 worst movies of all time list.

Oh, that new icon with the peeking? That's Reese Witherspoon in Vanity Fair. Pictures just came out today. It really does look like Courtney Love, now that you mention it.

(I do like Celebrity Skin a good bit, though.)

lol! Ooops!

When I got the Maxim or FHM 100 sexiest women I remember thinking that Reese (who hasn't looked like her old cute self in ages) looked a lot like Courtney Love. Wow... kinda scary and interesting at the same time.

Yah, that album rocked!
