So, what are we eating today?

(I don't actually know. I saw four pies downstairs, that's all I know. There might be a white chocolate cheesecake?)

ETA: EPIC NATIONAL RICKROLL. Man, the Macy's Parade got the man himself to do it. I don't think anyone can ever do it again. There will be no greater Rickroll.

Tofurky roast, stuffing, corn casserole, whole grain rolls, pumpkin pie...

Tofurky!

From: [identity profile] franklanguage.livejournal.com
Great stuff; I thought I was the only Tofurky roast here.

And the cranberries = simplicity:

1 cup whole fresh cranberries
rind of 1 orange (take off with peeler)
juice of 1 orange
1/4 cup sugar

Put all ingredients in food processor; whirl until chopped. Cranberry relish: double recipe as needed.

But to answer your question:

Turkey, cornbread stuffing, mashed potatoes, buttered diced carrots, cranberry sauce, rolls, and chocolate pie.

Well, we tried to make key lime pie.

That deflated and fell apart.

Then we tried to make sweet potato pie.

That overflowed the pan,but looks good.

My sister said something about bourbon pecan pie.

Hopefully that went okay, or we got pie issues.

Also, Macy's just rickrolled.

If the bourbon pecan pie is from a Food Network recipe (I forget which chef), it's FANTASTIC! My dad made it last year and will again make it this year for our 2nd Thanksgiving (We have 2: one traditional made by my Grandma complete with green bean casserole, and a 2nd made by my mom - dessert by dad - which is very gourmet and way yummier).

With the rest of my family out of town this year and me not wanting to travel, I'm taking myself this afternoon to the Rheinlander. It's a longtime German restaurant in Portland; one of my family's favorite recipes is adapted from a Rheinlander recipe.

Before that, honestly, I'll want a burger. I'm donating blood this morning and I'll hope a fast food place is open for early lunch because a burger is a decent source of iron.

No matter what, I'll eat well. Hope the same for you!

I'm in Paris for the semester, so I have a big crusty baguette with all sorts of seeds inside. I was going to have an expat dinner, but this is some sort of pre-exam Hell Week all over the university system. D:

But the bread is, at least, approved as French Tradition under the Bread Decree of 1993. I really have nothing to complain about.

Turkey, dressing, homemade cranberry sauce, mashed potatoes, green beans with almonds, those awesome rolls that come in a round pan from the freezer section, gravy, homemade Coconut cake.

Except for the rolls, the gravy, and the Coconut cake, I'm making everything. This is my first time doing Thanksgiving for more than 2 people.

Salad, stuffed chicken (with more stuffing on the side), green bean casserole, spinach, can-shaped cranberry sauce (I love that term!), crescent rolls, pumpkin pie.

And re the Rickroll: All that is left now is to sneak a copy of Never Gonna Give You Up onto a NASA mission to Jupiter and rickroll the solar system. There is nothing left for rickrolls on Earth.
