Man, I am tired

So, first order of business: True Blood recap #2 went up earlier today, if you missed that.

Second: today's Journal Birthday flashback might as well be about the time Sister Girl made beignets.

Third: If you think Days of Our Lives was crazy, feast your eyes on Passions. Also: how the DOOL Salem Stalker/Bizarro Salem storyline ended.

Gah. Why can't SNL just hire a couple of black people? I mean, it's not like there's never been a successful black performer who came out of the show.

Seriously, did Garrett Morris's cocaine freakouts really scar Lorne Michaels that badly?

Say what you will about Passions, it did give the world Justin Hartley, to which I and my libido owe it a great debt.

Personally, I think children of the future will be dumber for more things than just age banding, but that's just me.

EXCLUSIVE: William Shatner Voices Santa In Most Messed Up X-Mas Special Ever

I read that as "EXCLUSIVE: William Shatner Voices Satan In Most Messed Up X-Mas Special Ever".

Which may not be too far off judging by what I read.

I never knew how much I disliked Meg Cabot until I [tried to] read that interview. She's like an older, teen-novel-writing Bella Swan.
I will seriously have to march over to the home of whoever's decided to do another POTC movie, stab him at least seven times in the chest, then proceed to die myself if they actually make another one. GRRRR.
Especially awesome linkspam today :D *applause*

Hm. From what I've heard Johnny Depp say about the Pirates movies (and this was pretty much right after At World's End came out), he sounded like he'd be willing to do the movies no matter what the paycheck was. I definitely think a fourth one will get made. Barbossa and Jack are my fave charries anyway. (After all the good ones died.)

As a wannabe librarian, the whole age-banding thing totally rubs me the wrong way. Plus, I was (supposedly) reading at a college level in 5th grade, so if my parents wouldn't have been as cool as they were/are, I would have been screwed by it. (I know it's a UK issue and that we've got something similar, but man...)

...I think I should take more aspirin and go back to bed before I rant on your lj, Cleo. XD

The best things about Rachel Getting Married was the return of Debra Winger and the Robyn Hitchcock cameo.

Huh. I remember when I was in Yr 7 my school librarian stopped me from borrowing Queen Kat, Carmel and St Jude Get A Life. Apparently it was for Yr 10's and older only.

I was not impressed.

Yes. Yes, it is. It's rife with stupid English mistakes and ripe for the mocking, is what I'm saying.

The book reading level thing FILLS ME WITH CAPSLOCK OF RAAAAGE. I was reading YA level books (Tamora Pierce, Patricia C. Wrede's Enchanted Forest Chronicles, that sort of thing) in second grade, and I had to make it by on the books my parents could afford when we went to the store, which given that I read 100 pages an hour and wasn't a whole lot slower when I was young, didn't give me much. The stupidass librarian wouldn't let me check out books above my grade level. Bitch. This is why I'm homeschooling my daughter.

I'm sorry, but how in the world in a list of 25 (25!) best soundtracks can they NOT include the soundtrack for "High Fidelity" on there?

On a side note: First time commenting here, since I'm stupid. I think you're awesome. As does the rest of the known internet.

Have a good day!

Oooh Cleo, dunno if you saw this but I know I am not the only Gervais-loather who reads here so have this!

Gervais to quit acting...eventually (http://www.digitalspy.co.uk/showbiz/a131777/gervais-will-eventually-quit-acting.html)

Bit disappointed that it's not right now this very second but that'll do. As long as it does actually happen and he does quit. Other wise I will have to ressurect my assassination plans.

Also, $55 million?? That's a bit excessive but if it makes him do Jack again then it's worth it IMO. Although, I would watch him read a shopping list so perhaps my opinion is a bit worthless.

Also-also, David Tennant has the cutest floppy hair in the LLL pictures. Damn, I would hit that so hard...*loses herself in her daydreams again*

I keep meaning to ask you: have you seen Princess of Thieves? It's a made for TV thing from 2001 and it's got Keira Knightley practicing her Elizabeth Swan as Robin Hood's daughter and Stephen Moyer of True Blood fame in it, as well. It's a nice bit of cheesy fluff and it was on TV a couple of weeks ago and I thought 'Cleo would love this'. Since it seems like you might need a little cheering up lately, I thought I would pass it along on the off-chance you are unaware.

[identity profile] mercat.livejournal.com 2008-10-05 06:55 pm (UTC)(link)
I dunno, I still hold that Indy IV would have been better if Lucas had just dropped his obsession with the crystal skulls, and what I said after I came out of the theatre was "well, at least he can't use that again". I kind of suspected they'd be considering doing more than four if they ever got around to doing four, and according to the "pattern" the fifth one shouldn't suck, haha. So I guess as long as they stop here...

And honestly, I wouldn't even mind if Mutt was in it as long as he wasn't taking over (I didn't have any problems with him... just the Tarzan scene), though I'd heard he wouldn't be in it anyhow.
