Oh my God, Shelby just collapsed and we don't know why.

ETA: And... she's back. She keeled over, they carried her off to the vet, and then half an hour later or whenever--now--she comes bouncing back into the house. I have no idea. They're running some blood tests now to see what the hell that was all about.

Well, it's better than getting a... bad phone call from my parents while they're at the vet saying. You have to remember, the last time we rushed a dog to the vet like that, he didn't come back.

It sounds like there will be time to work out what went wrong now, and maybe fix it so it doesn't happen again.

Oh goodness. Hang in there. Off to the vet? I'm hoping it's something simple like dehydration (so common in the summer) and easy to fix. *hugs*

A seizure, perhaps? Hope she continues to do well, and that it's not a serious problem.

Perhaps it's not really a dog, and is instead a fainting goat?

Tess did that. She had a heart condition and lived for quite some time afterwards, so I wouldn't assume the worst.

ETA: And... she's back.

Phew. That's good for now, and hopefully the tests will reveal an easy-to-fix reason for the collapse-incident.

Is Shelby one of the younger dogs or the older one? I can't remember. This is probably an equally bad and good moment to note that you don't have a link to your wiki in your link column/sidebar -- meaning that I could have looked up the information there, but I can't remember the url off the top of my head. Sorry, bad(/marginally good?) moment to mention it, I know.

Date: 2008-07-26 10:06 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] cleolinda.livejournal.com
Yeah, I need to update/prune the sidebar. It's cleoland.pbwiki.com, and it's still (always will be) under construction, so I don't even know if Shelby has a decent entry yet. She's one of the two terrier mixes we got last spring, the black and white one.

Oh, it so tears us up when something is wrong with the furry members of our family.

I hope this was just something temporary, or is treatable.

Many pets to Shelby.

I hope she has something easily fixable. I know you must have been quite stressed out after what happened to Lucky. I'm asking for intervention by St. Francis - he's always taken care of my cats.

After all you folks have been through, I'm glad that Shelby is back to bouncing mode. I do hope the doctors can pinpoint exactly what's wrong, and that it's easily treatable.

Maybe she's a narcoleptic, or better yet, wicked smart, and one of those 'feinting' breeds, like the goats, but she's using it to lull you into a sense of lessened awareness before she pounces. (I hope everything turns out ok)

Maybe she's narcoleptic? My old boss had a narcoleptic dachsund. It wasn't too much of a problem and she lived to be pretty darn old, more than 15 IIRC.
