Arghhhh, somewhat frazzled and my jaw is killing me. I think I clench it when I'm concentrating--you know, which one normally does when working--but it's really aching at a new level of annoyance right now, which makes me wonder if it's related to the medication adjustments. Like maybe I clench with greater anxiety on lower levels of Zoloft or something. I don't know; I just hate it. Also, that twitch in my eyelid has come back, and this fridgeless existence is also getting really, really old--Mom had to call up Sayid again and complain that the compressor part had arrived but Sears was reneging on its promise to come install it the same day. Which makes it sound like my entire weekend must have been crappy, but it wasn't--I got a lot of work done, and Pete the puppy came over and played some. It's just that my jaw is killing me now, and we're all tired of living off whatever we can scrounge from the cabinets and the cooler.

Drop by the drugstore and get a mouthguard -- I clench when concentrating, stressed, or sleeping, and was having awful jaw pain and headaches. I now have a mouthguard (from my dentist, but those can be expensive), and it makes sleeping so much better, and my dentist said to use it during the day too if I find that I clench at other times.

My eyelid was twitching all last week. Not fun.

Yeah, some medications cause the clenching thing.

I use a mouthguard at night and muscle relaxers when I need them. It sucks, but it can be dealt with.

I've got a twitch in my upper eyelid, it's bloody annoying! My doctor helpfully told me it was probably due to stress and/or lack of sleep. Because 'chill and sleep more' is such good advice to someone with anxiety issues, yo.

Heh, yeah. I notice that my twitch specifically turns up after I've spent a lot of time staring at the computer in a particularly concentrated way--that is, working.

Yeah, that's what I get too. I also seem to get it when I'm getting annoyed at something, which does tend to happen at work.

I have that too. It's a bizarre feeling, like someone else is moving your eyelid.

My mother gets it too--we tend to say, "Oh, my eyelid's jumping again," but I figured if I said that in the entry itself, people would wig out with the bad jokes and the "What! Does it actually jump?!"

(God, I wish I could drink right now. I've got a couple of Woodchucks gazing at me longingly from a shelf across the room. I've half convinced myself that boozing up would help.)

It wouldn't?

Kidding! I seem to be somewhat punchy today.

Heh. I'm sure it would, it's just that I can't drink while I'm adjusting my meds. Particularly the Lamictal. You know, fatal rash, etc.

Shpff, fatal rash.

Hee. Yeah, ok, probably NOT a good idea, then.

(And I am absurdly pleased that I have icons that go so well with both of these comments. I'm SUCH a nerd.)

Are you still getting any vertigo? Mine has mostly gone away, but I've noticed every so often I'll go to lie down and I'll feel the dizziness briefly. It's very minor compared to when it first started, though.

I very, very rarely have a touch of it, usually when my allergies are acting up and I stand up too fast.

Have you checked to see if you grind/clench your teeth while sleeping (have I asked you this before? My brain feels like Swiss cheese today). My sister and my boyfriend both had their dentists tell them they did that, so they wear a mouthguard at night to protect against wearing down their teeth. I am unclear as to whether it helps the actual clenching/tenseness, though, so I don't know if it'd help with the ache.

I don't know if you've asked, but I know that I do, because my teeth show very telltale signs of it. Like, "Man, that tooth is shorter than it used to be."

Well, if you haven't got a mouthguard yet and decide to go the "cheap route" for one, Dave JUST did all the research on what's a good product for less money (he's all about the deals) so I can see what brand he got.

It's probably a good idea if there's noticeable wear, and maybe it would even help with the clenching?

The Telltale Tooth sounds like what happens when dentists meet Poe.

(Which, BTW, there has got to be a horror story in there, and it ends like this:

NOM-NOM. NOM-NOM. NOM-NOM...)

ETA:

Dave says the Dentek Nightguard, available at Target for $18.99, works well for him. :)

I clench my teeth and I have a dentist ordered mouth guard and it does help with the the ache. You still clench but the mouthguard absorbs all the pressure instead of your teeth. It's pretty noticable on the mouthguard.

That sounds like maybe, possibly it. If it gets bad (it sounds pretty bad right now) maybe you should talk about it to your doctor?

Wow, I could totally get used to the idea of Sayid coming round to fix my fridge, if you know what I mean, and I think you do. Shame your mum wasn't calling up THAT Sayid.

I get that twitch from eyestrain. If you've been reading a book with fine or light print that could do it. Also taking eye breaks from the computer (looking out a window for a minute every so often, etc) helps somewhat.
