The 800-word Harry Potter prequel is online if you want to read it. Other notecard contributors (also online) include Neil Gaiman, Doris Lessing, Tom Stoppard, Nick Hornby and Margaret Atwood.
Also Stoppard's piece was quirky and funny, as I'd expect from him. Gaiman's is adorkable, Welsh's amuses, and...I'll decipher Atwood's when I get the chance. XD
Who in their right mind puts "From the prequel I am not writing..." at the end ?????? O_o
I dunno, but maybe she did it to dispel any rumors of upcoming projects that might result from her participation in this venture? I can see that going through her mind. :/
mmichelle was adorable and typed the JKR one here (http://mmichelle.livejournal.com/150726.html), for people who are having trouble reading her handwriting.
You might want to tell her that Waterstone's would probably not appreciate that. There's a copyright notice at the bottom of the page that says reproduction of the text is a no-no.
Aww, that was great! XD Elvendork! I <3 Sirius. ; ;
I read Neil's first, though. Haha! I seem to remember him saying something about that concept somewhere - whether on his blog or in the introduction to a short story collection - so I got this big grin on my face when I reached the end. Ah, Neil~
1. I now feel like a colossal idiot for haivng read all previous articles as it being an 800 page prequel rather than 800 words. *Fail at reading comprehension*
2. This entire page is now a HUGE distraction in my mind for what was supposed to be "Do Lots of Work on my Thesis Day!", which is funnily enough on Stoppard's "Rosencrantz and Guildenstern Are Dead."
1. I now feel like a colossal idiot for haivng read all previous articles as it being an 800 page prequel rather than 800 words. *Fail at reading comprehension* I DID THAT TOO!!! :( Such a let down when it was pointed out to me that it was only words, not pages. :(
A tiny part of me wants to believe that there's an imaginary *wink* at the end of her footnote "from the prequel I'm not writing ;)". Hey. One can hope!
Judging by some official Indy IV concept art I've seen, I think there's a strong possibility the script is real and not just a fanboy fake, but there's always the off chance.
It's said to be written by Frank Darabont, whose draft for Indy IV Spielberg called "the best since Raiders" but was then rejected by George Lucas. Lots of critics had assumed up to now that Darabont's draft was better than the final one, so it may be worth a look.
(The assumption is partly because Darabont wrote The Shawshank Redemption and the final scriptwriter, David Koepp, wrote, well... Jurassic Park 1 and then Spielberg's War of the Worlds. But also it's partly because George Lucas was the one who rejected it, and geeks love to hate Lucas.)
