Random, fragrant thoughts: I've been strategically stashing scented candles in drawers. Can one's underwear smell too much like jasmine, you might ask? And the answer is yes. Yes, it can. On the other hand, I've dug out my BPAL and put a few drops of Tamora in an oil diffuser, and it smells fantastic. You know, even though the oil is three or four years old at this point--apparently the stuff does keep pretty well. I wonder if I have any Snake Oil around here--I hear that one ages fantastically.

Not much else to report, except that I'm tired and behind on work.

Also: 'The Women' trailer. You know what? The Women is one of my most favoritest movies, and... I think I won't be seeing any remake on principle. Because, while the story comes off as fairly empowering (for 1939), if predictably sentimental at the end, I'm not sure the same story can hold up in 2008. It's just a different world now, you know?

Okay, am I the only one who thinks the Cam "Bane of Spellcheck" Gigandet interview was really awkward? It's like they kept asking him questions long after the interview should have been over.

*weeps*

Why must they keep destroying my childhood?

I haven't watched it yet, but the other MTV/Twilight interviews are kind of like that as well. I think MTV has given so much time to the Twilight coverage that they don't entirely know how to fill it.

If it had been a normal social situation there would have been an awkward pause and then the party would have said "weeelll...I've got to be going now". Unfortunately you can't really do that in an interview so there was just the awkward pause.

Item 1: I still don't see Jake Gyllenhaal as the Prince of Persia, but that might just be me and my lady-boner for dusky warrior types.

Item 2: Wait, Brittany Murphy voicing Tinkerbell? Lord a' mighty, I'm glad I missed that. I am not sure why there is a Tinkerbell serial at all, although I am an avowed Tink fan, but if someone's gonna voice her, it might as well be Mae Whitman, because she pwns in Avatar: the Last Airbender.

haha, my username. *is lame*

Sadly, Matthew Marsden is not related to James. This makes me sad, as two men that hot could have only been a good thing.

He-Man? REALLY? Of all the cartoons...HE-MAN? There best be a She-Ra film... On the other hand, maybe not.

Not only that...

How sad is it that the Universal fire made me go, "Nooooooo!" I mean, all those prints! The Back to the Future square! Our cultural heritage, up in flames!

...OK, maybe that is rather pathetic of me. I guess I should be glad it wasn't the Met or something.

In other things, I just saw Iron Man again (I don't usually see movies twice in theaters, but man, this one was just as fun the second time!) and saw The Spirit trailer. And thought..."is this the second Sin City movie?"

I'm glad the actual movie won't really be all red, black, and white!

They're remaking Masters of the Universe? ...why?

I'll never understand remaking campy old movies. You can't really *plan* a movie to be classic in that way.

So is bandwidth capping a pretty new idea in the US then? Wow. I assumed it was around there just as here. We have a mixture of capped and 'unlimited' (aka, 'within reason') depending who you want to go to. Also, those prices are so depressing. For a 'slow' 768 kps and 5GB a month it's still cheaper than I pay for something around 256-512mps and the same bandwidth. Although admittedly the speed is because our infrastructure is so bad that I can't get anything better. And it's only this month my bandwidth allowance has gone up from 2GB to 5GB! $1 per GB extra is also a really good deal, about a third of what I pay per extra GB.

Hey. I was wondering if you might mention the following story in one of your upcoming posts.
An editor at jezebel.com is pooling together funds to get 6 women who started an NGO to promote women's rights (and their husbands) out of Iraq as soon as possible, because one of the women they were protecting was murdered recently. They have no money themselves and are in real danger. She's asking people to contribute something, anything, to her Paypal account, which will then be transferred to a helpful journalist in Iraq.
The full story is here (http://jezebel.com/5013108/love-has-to-be-calculated-in-iraq-today-they-think-women-are-machines) and here (http://jezebel.com/5012297/mom-who-fled-her-honor-killing-husband-in-basra-shot-down-on-street-how-you-can-help). Back story here (http://jezebel.com/389734/welcome-to-basra-where-beating-your-daughter-to-death-gets-you-high+fived-by-cops).
Thanks in advance for any attention you might be able to generate.

I have been thinking about your computer. Have you cleared the files of internet downloads? I hadn't done mine in a while and it took an hour and a half!

Log on to the net. Go to the tool bar and select tools. go to Internet options. Delete the top file stuff. I suppose you can keep your cookies (g)

The Women is being remade? Eh... On one hand, I'm curious and kind of want to see it. On the other, I think you're right, it'll lose something very important being transplanted in time like that. It's like Shall We Dance (I didn't see the remake, only the trailers), take it out of Japan and into America, and suddenly it stops being a social commentary with a sweet ending and becomes all about Jennifer Lopez's ass.

Oh god. A year and a half ago I decided to clear my desktop's temporary internet files, after noticing this was where my virus scan would spend a couple of hours. It turned out there were more than 100,000. Apparently the "delete after 9 days" part hadn't been working all along...
