Just a note

Two things that came up in the comments of the previous entry:

1. Ellen Page IS Jane Eyre (thanks, [livejournal.com profile] elbeonore). "Alison Owen of Ruby Films, who most recently produced 'The Other Boleyn Girl,' is working with BBC Films to develop the new adaptation of Bronte's classic 19th century romance." OH HELL NO.

2. This thread:

[livejournal.com profile] crumpeteer: I'm waiting for the action figures. But really they won't have much action except to mope around and pine over Bella.

[livejournal.com profile] cleolinda: Edward would definitely have Sparkle Action, though.

[livejournal.com profile] crumpeteer: Most embarrassing moment in vampire lore EVER.

[livejournal.com profile] cleolinda: I hereby swear (holds up hand) that if I write a 15M for this movie, I will try my damnedest to work in the line, "I have begun to doubt your commitment to Sparkle Motion."

[livejournal.com profile] crumpeteer: And I'll want an icon of that.

[livejournal.com profile] cleolinda: Done!

I'm not familiar with Twilight but that icon is brilliant.

Heh, thanks. Long story short, the Twilight vampires sparkle (like diamonds? I think that's what someone told me?) in direct sunlight.

Perfect.

Part of me thinks that the Twilight vampires are the ones who got swirlies and stuffed in their lockers in vampire school.

XD Icon love. I'm so glad you mentioned M15 for this movie, I was hoping you'd think about it. It would be hilarious.

No pressure though.

....pleeeeeeeaaaaasseee?

Poor guys, they'd never be able to hide from the bullies on bright days... unless the bullies are the kind of vampires that would burn in sunlight AS IS THE WAY GOD INTENDED IT!

......this would be the point where I cringe and cry. Why don't they just make a movie version of Jenna Starborn (http://www.amazon.com/Jenna-Starborn-Sharon-Shinn/dp/B000H2MPCW/ref=pd_bbs_sr_1?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1210132222&sr=8-1) and put Ellen Page in THAT? That's a modern update to Jane Eyre without SUCKING.

(for those who haven't had a chance to read it, it's a SF version of Jane Eyre in which Jenna is a nuclear technician instead of a governess, and there are literal classes of citizenship to come between Jenna and Everett. And it's FANTASTIC.)

The book mentions "like tiny rainbows" or something like that, I don't have a copy to quote correctly and directly from.

December 12, this year. I remember because it's near my birthday, I used to think it was next year or something, but nay.

If Buffy is to be believe, all one needs is a blanket thrown over the head and you're impervious to the flame bursting.

I'd have to think that even a vampire with a blanket thrown over their head would be reluctant to be caught with a vampire who sparkled like a prom queen's tiara. Even the undead have standards.

Oh, where are the Crack!Fic writers when you need them?

And when I was little, I remember seeing a vampire movie where the vamp put sunscreen on herself and it worked in keeping her from burning.. I wonder if SueVampires would stop sparkling with sunscreen?

The whole thing just sort of opens itself up when the author makes her heroes the Liberace of all vampiredom.

I cannot for the life of me wrap my head around Ellen Page as Jane Eyre, at all.

(It doesn't help that I get in my mental image of her in a 19th-century dress, she looks like she's just playign dress-up. Maybe if just once this past awards season, I'd seen in her in a dress and not looking awkward at the same time...)

So .... are we so out of screenplay ideas, that one year we get a NEW IMPROVED Jane Eyre with flavor-of-the-moment young actress, and the very next year we get yet another Pride and Prejudice, in a never ending pattern until they bump into each other during production?

Super icons, Cleo. I almost lost it when a friend described the Twilight vamps as keeping out of the sun 'cause they were so gosh darn pretty in full daylight that their true nature was revealed. Luckily we were on the phone and I could cover the mouthpiece while I choked back laughs.

Maybe an obscure, yet worthy, artsy independent film will open that weekend? At least there might be good coffee wherever it plays.
